Anyone losing their shit over the hawks beating 2 shit teams and another average one went far too soon. Carlton have been ruined by injury and hawks having a blessed run.

Hawks aren’t the contender they’ve been made to look. They’re at best a bottom of the 8 side.

Yep

Haven't beaten a good side yet.......
Fairly KOTD start though, considering how things have panned out.

Sydney are very unconvincing.

Carlton are duds.

Essendon - Lol.

Giants on a night at UTAS, where they've never won, whilst blowing a gale.

You take that start any day of the week when you're Hawks, obviously.

They looked much better around clearances this week too.

Hawthorn are 8 - 0.

Yet they only have one good key forward,
1 good midfielder, lose the clearances and still haven't played a good side

They may carry on and dominate.

Don't forget though that north Melbourne looked unstoppable a decade ago, went the first half of the season 12-0, then only won 2 of their remaining games.

I rate them. Think we've just done what Gold Coast did with us - we finished 8th in 2017, everyone expected us to slide, GC bet against us in that future pick swap and we made out like bandits after winning the flag. Hawks may not win it but they'll be top 4.

Not worth an unholy melt over, think Carlton will recover as well, but just pretty confident we've backed a horse and it's lost. Annoying but ah well.

Never said they have one good key forward, they don’t have any.
According to you, they don't have a good key forward, have only 1 good midfielder and have an untalented list.
Yet they're on top of the ladder.

They're going to be scary when they eventually get some good players I reckon.

I agree with some that they havent played their best but they're still winning. When they get going later in the season they will beat the better sides imo. Of course they will drop a few games as well. Top 4 for mine. I feel like I shouldn't melt any more over this. Whatever the picks end up being.

It was the wrong decision, but I believe it was made because Carlton were overrated as opposed to underrating Hawthorn.

Can only beat what’s in front of you and they’ve found a way to win all 4 games - whilst being able to justifiably claim they are yet to play their best footy

Lewis or Dear will be able to give them another tall forward to support Chol
Worpel is one of their best clearance mids
McDonald is an important part of their forward setup
Scrimshaw is a handy defender to have out

All of them are best 22 whilst not necessarily being in their best dozen

I’d thought their young group might have got ahead of themselves and struggled to back up last year’s run but Mitchell has seemingly got them coming back hungry to improve

The other reason I was happy enough to have their picks was they had a really good run with injury in the back half of the season which was not necessarily going to be duplicated. So far they’ve covered their injuries albeit not to their very best players

Right now they look as good a chance as anyone to finish top 4, although at some point their form will wane and it’s how they respond when it does that will determine their season

Meanwhile, Carlton have gone backwards at a rate of knots, partly but not totally due to injury, to the point where they’re borderline trash and have a ton of work to do to get their season back on track

Absolutely looks like we backed the wrong horse at this early stage but given I was happy enough to have the Hawthorn picks I can’t be critical of the club. Hopefully, Hawthorn regress as the season evolves

I'm not fussed about Hawthorn.

They're winning, good on them.

Literally knocking off every challenge put to them in the past 15 months (apart from beating Port for some weird hoodoo reason)

Will be interesting gather rd Port v haw at AO

Sits on an account for 7 years just to post in this shitty thread. 😂
Either that's somebody who's held off posting for 7 years just to decide this thread and that post is worth finally joining the fun, or it's a troll account set up strategically 7 years ago to finally be used in this shitty thread. I must say, I'm kind of impressed by the vindictiveness either way.

Likely the latter. "I've finally found a reason to use it!"

Look guys, it's 4-0 vs 0-3 but lets not forget:

At their best Hawthorn could be premiers, but at their worst they could still get the spoon.
Whereas Carlton at their worst could get the spoon, but at their best could take home the flag.

Anything could still happen, it's probably just not going to because our list manager's looking more and more like a dud.

Didn't Phil make the call, not Clarke?

Mediocre side carried by a good system at present, port to smoke them.
