Only 1 game but the Hawks look good, would be surprised if they arent top 6.
That first rounder is gonna be basically a 2nd rounder if they win the premiership and the 2nd will be a 3rd ,
Should have just taken pick 12 and the third rounder for barrass and kept pick 3. Ahh well.

Round 1 is never a great gauge.
But Hawks looked OK, not great. Very vulnerable on the rebound.
Sydney stank. And I don’t think Hawks had a heap to do with that. Some bizarre stuff going on where they had the advantage. But rookie coach so perhaps to be expected.
115 tackles for the game. Which given the conditions seems pretty low, but is a pretty standard season game.
Bit of a meh affair. Like I said, most round 1 games are like that and poor reflections of the year ahead.

Bang on. From a death ride POV, you come away from that going ah it’s a shame they’re 1-0 not 0-1, but they looked vulnerable as all hell on the turnover, even against a shite forwardline, and very thin up forward.
Then again, they played the SCG well, and then again again not all grounds are a one kick counter attack for inside 50. Best news is they’ve already played the club that employs Ollie Florent.
They’ll demolish Essendon, the sky will fall, then the death ride can actually begin.

If we actually had the choice between their & Carlton's picks, and we picked Hawthorn, then we rly shat the bed given the position we are in.

Cleary but Hawks pulled the trigger, not many teams would’ve done that, that early in the trade period. Negotiations aren’t always easy but I’m hindsight your doing the earlier trade.
The way our list management thinks we might do split anyway. Also sounds like we were just as keen as a future 1st and their current, no doubt to position ourself for Warner.
It’s only one year, not 2.

Swans missing Gulden, Mills, McDonald, first game under a new coach and their forward line looked totally dysfunctional. This game said more about Sydney than it did about Hawthorn for mine.
Hawthorn will be a good team but let’s take a breath before announcing them as premiers.
