Saints are going to be bottom 4 with all these injures. Membrey gone, Battle gone.

Howard out for 10. Philipou out plus Sinclair, King and Wood sent for scans today.
If you want to be a rich man, put all your savings on us for the spoon. Genuinely the toughest organisation to support in world sport. Every year, we sustain several severe injuries in preseason, but somehow recover to finish 12th.

Imagine an entire support base having their optimism for the upcoming season crushed in early Feb.

What's up with all the injuries every season? More of a Ross The Boss thing, or even before that?

Honestly, you could make several arguments, but one of the biggest ones has to be the level of training we do. Countless recruits notice how much extra running we do, compared to other clubs.

I think due to our lack of A-Grade talent, we have developed a game plan that is built around our endurance. We have plenty of aerobic beasts that can run out games well, but our skills are still not at the level of competing clubs.

Yes, soft tissue injuries occur during preseason, but it seems like our training program pushes the line to the extreme. The players who get through are incredibly fit, but there are many that break down.

Obviously, some players are more injury prone as well. King now has a long history with knees, so maybe he's always going to be a risk with them. Sinclair missed early last season with a calf, Wood had troubles at North, while players like Phillipou, Marshall etc have stress fractures, which generally come from overuse.

You might be right about bottom 4, but covering for Sinclair and Battle (2nd and 3rd in the b&f) is much harder than the rest. Membrey looked cooked for most of last year, Phillipou was mostly in the VFL, and Howard and Wood already had an injury interrupted season last year.

King is hardly worth mentioning as a loss because he is always injured, and for the last 2 years we have generally looked better when he doesn't play.

Cry me a river. You played finals 18 months ago.

Our season has been over by April for the past 5 years. No other club comes close to that level of disappointment and incompetence.

A very tough pre season for the Saints unfortunately. Same with the Lions who have had a very brutal bill of health so far.
Our pre season maybe hasn't been amazing. I don't know exactly. But 8 of the 13 odd on the injury list barely if at all featured in our best 22 last year. The 4 in Big o, bags, starc and hippy look like they'll be right by the pre season games and id expect them to play. I don't know how much run in the legs they have. But not sure many will be unfit when it comes to rd 0. Maybe kiddy being the only one.

Yeah it's time the Saints excessively gutted their list and spent 5 years at the bottom getting no1 picks that leave the club after 1 year, then grab a coach that has to spend 12 months off to avoid some racism controversy. They need to fill the executive positions full of DEI hires who wouldn't know one end of a cow from the other, then leave for other DEI positions as the place falls down around them. Then we can go crawling to the AFL for record hand outs and concessions. That'll sort us out well for the future.
