I’ll say it. Charlie Curnow thinks he’s a lot better than he actually is.

Hasn’t turned up the past month. Hardly fired a shot this year apart from a few glimpses.

Doesn’t chase or tackle and gives up contests when it’s not to his advantage.

He’s too good for that, or so he thinks.

For around a million a year we get a kpf that doesn’t compete, doesn't work for his team-mates or apply defensive pressure.
We get someone that will stand stationary 30m from goal with his hand in the air & sometimes provide a contest rather than angling for a free or cheapie out the back.

Thread opened 40 mins before the end of the match must be a record.

Have said for 2 years now we just aren’t good enough. These players drink their own bath water.

Trade trade trade and sack all the coaches
That does not explain playing well for parts of games and being awful the other parts, last quarter was a great example.

We are certainly good enough to beat Richmond & North.

“Certainly” and “good” are fighting well out of their weight division here.

🤣

“Enough” maybe losing on points.

You know the feeling you get after losing all hope and you just accept the reality. Yeah I am that point where nothing can hurt me anymore.
Yep think that was a common feeling amongst the very pro carlton crowd at the g today. Very subdued and just accepting and expecting the of the onfield incompetence. Very sad state of affairs indeed. 😔

I'd say Charlie Curnow is a lot better than the way he has been playing.
And the sooner we get the right culture, mindset and suitable forwards line coach,
AND
a Head Coach
Who has a clue about modern day game style,
the faster we make use of the list talent we actually have,
bring out the strengths in our not so talented players, and bring in new blood, then coach them well from day 1!

Absolute shitfest of a performance. Worst part imo was when North turned up the physical pressure in the 2nd and 3rd quarters our overpaid senior players went missing. Curnow, Cripps and Weitering were embarrassing.
Gut the list and start again.

I’ve supported this club since 1979 and have given everything I could as a member from going to games in the dark days right through to the now.

Why should I along with other members who have done the same or more put up with this insipid rubbish.

I’ll always support them but im taking a break for awhile as this is now affecting my mental health.

I (we) don’t deserve this.

I’ve really enjoyed the banter with everyone and wish everyone here all the best.
Yep, not going to lie, I took my 2 young boys to their first game today, but could see the writing was on the wall in the first half. As I tried to regain their interest and enthusiasm during the half time break, North put us to the sword in the 3rd. I actually considered for the first time ever, is it worth it ? I paid $150+ for the day, to watch a team kick 2 goals in 1 half of footy.

Literally time would have been better spent kicking a ball with them at the local oval. Do I want to continue getting them invested in a club that is a constant disappointment and failure ? Why put them through it ? Feels very sad to see just how far we have fallen and fear we will be completely irrelevant in a few years, if we are not already. Only so much failure you can take.

We've lost all our major milestone games. We lost when we lost two icons of the club.
What does that tell you about the culture. It's putrid.

Mediocrity is rife at the club. Has been for a decade and more

I had hoped Voss might change this but unfortunately he has tried to be something he is not and it’s hurt us

Today's result is the consequence of pathetic list management that has delivered a plethora of unskilled players to the club. The fact that "Sack Voss" has been far louder than "Sack Austin" indicates our supporters over rate the list. Voss will be gone but a new coach with a list that is incapable of implimenting a new game plan is not the answer

I’ll die on this hill.

Austin is a decent list manager who was had to plug too many gaps in a short period of time.

His one mistake was not cutting the always injured players in 2023.

As for Voss - we have never been able to string more than 8-10 games of consistent football since he has been coach.

Time to go.

I’m speechless. Monstered by a bottom ish club . We sure are in the doldrums. At the moment. Players are down , insipid , lack confidence and continue to execute poorly
especially for goal . Next 4 game block is more than tough. Sure Voss is in the firing but players make coaches . We are not good at all . Devastating for all concerned. ****.

Yes another absolute shit show from our mob - another weak bullshit presser from Voss - no fight no mongrel in players or coaching staff - those at the top running the show obviously have no idea either - completely gut the joint and start again - we are the laughing stock of the AFL and it will only get worse with the current bozos we have at all levels .
Ring Horse up and get him there quick and piss half the players off and play kids.

After what’s transpired since 2015 nobody involved at the club should be thinking there is appetite - or trust to get it right - for a scorched earth rebuild of the playing list. To endure another 10 years like the last would be catastrophic to the point of an extinction event for the club. There is no point of drafting a bunch of 17 years olds with unproven potential when we have ****ing idea how to develop that talent or build a list. If I had anything to do with it I would completely blow up the off field…Lloyd, Austin, Agresta all go, the board too, albeit that is a lot harder to do…but not the list.

I would however be happy if we traded a high paid but underperforming player and got 2 or 3 proven, quality players in their 22-25 year old range in return. Maybe even get rid of 2 of the stars and bring in 5-6 new best 22 calibre players. This group needs to learn some hard truths. Send one of their mates to another club. Show them this is a results based business, not somewhere you get to be paid top dollar just to hang out with your mates if that doesn’t lead to success. The playing group are far too comfortable with their “status” in the game which is disappointing given how little they have really achieved. That is what needs to change the most IMO.
We’re not 2015 bad on or off the field.

Wright does need to review the joint from top to bottom though and make some changes.

We lost our soul as a club in 2002 and we’ve never been able to get it back. Soon after that we lost 40 consecutive years of Carlton premiership players when Kouta retired.

Culture is very difficult to build and very easy to lose. We’re the greatest example of that.

Our on field “leaders” have absolutely no idea what it takes to make a team successful. They’ve also been enabled by 20 years of administrative ineptitude. Essentially Carlton is a nice place to make some money, meet some good mates and live the life of an AFL player. Our guys are happy with that and don’t yearn for more.

100% correct
