But newer players also in the team. It's not necessarily the same list.

Come on, you know full well this core has remained, particularly the millionaires club who continue to not deliver, even against the worst teams in the comp this season.

They don't set standards, they don't lead, they take their money and whatever happens, happens.

It was abundantly clear when they put in putrid performances when Buzz and Walls passed away.

Well 2 of them didn't play today.

I agree on Curnow. Lazy lazy lazy.

If we get rid of those 3 plus Cripps and Weitering, will things get better? Will the game plan work better?

First time I have felt the players don't want to play for the coach, that 2nd and 3rd quarters the lack of effort from our most senior leaders was telling. Charlie has clearly stopped trying, Cripps has had enough and even Weiters body language told a story. Doch tried hard but made some critical errors, as did Saad.

Cant help but feel like the unfulfilling wins v WCE and Essendon have set us back, we didnt get the joy and confidence boosy out of it we should have. I was wrapt when we signed Voss but we now have enough evidence he simply isnt up to the job.

Possibly.

Durdin no disposals is the 2nd quarter and 1 disposal in the 3rd quarter.

Our midfield is getting beat so let’s sub off Lord and keep Durdin on the back of his 1 kick in two quarters of football. Master stroke.
I stopped watching at HT but this is typical of Voss…he’s got no bloody idea what so ever

He’s so far out of his depth it’s not funny

bit like what he did with Kennedy and Tdk in the finals

🤦‍♂️

Not just talking about today though...

First q. If we get rid of them for the right price and then make the right decisions, things will get better... eventually.

Q2. I don't think so. The game plan isn't going to work regardless.

Unfortunately, there is no quick fix. We have an aging list incapable of using the ball well by foot, spreading to provide options, d50 stoppage setups, kicking i50 etc.

They have displayed these issues even before Voss, doubt it's gonna magically disappear with a new coach while they're approaching their 30's.

This is why I keep saying we need to hit the draft, hopefully get it right...

That performance was on par with the Richmond game as our worst this season. We were not fair dinkum for the second and third quarters. I just can't comprehend the lack of care that our players seem to display. They are getting paid very good money to play sport. It's not a bad situation for them to be in. So the least we can expect from them is a wholehearted effort week to week. Today's effort was of pea heart proportions.

Our list is not good enough, issues everywhere. We carry so many ineffectual players. Time to make some significant change, playing list and coaching. We need competitors who hate to lose.

Gotta stick fat.

We lost our soul as a club in 2002 and we’ve never been able to get it back. Soon after that we lost 40 consecutive years of Carlton premiership players when Kouta retired.

Culture is very difficult to build and very easy to lose. We’re the greatest example of that.

Our on field “leaders” have absolutely no idea what it takes to make a team successful. They’ve also been enabled by 20 years of administrative ineptitude. Essentially Carlton is a nice place to make some money, meet some good mates and live the life of an AFL player. Our guys are happy with that and don’t yearn for more.
It would seem so.

What a putrid display of footy.
Especially weak when they got their tails up and started wrestling after kicking a few goals and we let them walk over us.

That's Vossy done. Think he will see out the season but doubt he is in charge for Round 1 next year.
Alarm bells have been ringing for a while now, the only worthwhile performance since the middle of 2024 from this team has been Geelong at the G. That is a big enough sample size to try and turn it around.

We were handed a decent fixture with 5 games against the bottom 3 teams (NM, WC & Rich) inside the first 14 and we've ended up with a 3-2 record.

I'm sure playing list, injuries, coaching group etc has all played a part but this isn't a knee-jerk sack the coach. He has had 4 years with the best list we've had in over 20 years. Thanks for the run we went on in 2023, that was enjoyable. Next man up.

Burn the joint, to the ground. Play the kids etc. etc.

If this is the case, then we blow up the list. If it's not, we get the right help around them.

After what’s transpired since 2015 nobody involved at the club should be thinking there is appetite - or trust to get it right - for a scorched earth rebuild of the playing list. To endure another 10 years like the last would be catastrophic to the point of an extinction event for the club. There is no point of drafting a bunch of 17 years olds with unproven potential when we have ****ing idea how to develop that talent or build a list. If I had anything to do with it I would completely blow up the off field…Lloyd, Austin, Agresta all go, the board too, albeit that is a lot harder to do…but not the list.

I would however be happy if we traded a high paid but underperforming player and got 2 or 3 proven, quality players in their 22-25 year old range in return. Maybe even get rid of 2 of the stars and bring in 5-6 new best 22 calibre players. This group needs to learn some hard truths. Send one of their mates to another club. Show them this is a results based business, not somewhere you get to be paid top dollar just to hang out with your mates if that doesn’t lead to success. The playing group are far too comfortable with their “status” in the game which is disappointing given how little they have really achieved. That is what needs to change the most IMO.

Spot on. 1 year out of 4 you could consider a pass mark for the club.

Voss hasn't been able to develop a gameplan for what I think is a top 4 list.

The next major issue is now half the top tier players are passed their best anyway.

Cripps, Acres, Mcgovern, Doc all should be out the door with him. Weak leadership.
Yep, we’ve actually gone backwards when you consider the list he inherited and the washed out bunch we have now. Mental health issues, leadership throwing in the towel, and today showed they’ve actually all given up on playing fir the jumper.
Dire signs for the coming weeks.

It wasn't even 1 year.

It was 3 months of decent football.

We were in 15th spot on the ladder after Rd 15 FFS.

Today is who we are and have been the entirety of Voss's tenure.
