One or two too many in my opinion but much better than last year.

I think you should just have three official leaders. Other can take on unofficial roles.

Guys like Crouch, Laird and Tex aren't in the leadership group but we will still role them out to the media after a bad loss.

Official group is

Dawson
O'Brien
Keays
Neal-Bullen
Fogarty

It does look a little unbalanced.

So no leaders in defence? I know it's a young group, but surely Hinge or Max (maybe too quiet?) could be considered.
Unless we play Dawson across half back more (although the games so far this year don't look like it).

In the end it's a pretty good group really.

Laird is absolutely NOT a leader. His on field tantrums and abuse of younger players when he doesn't get the pad his stats are not ok.

Not suggesting he is, I wouldn’t even have him in the best 22 but my point is we still get him to do plenty of media. You only need 3 leaders (Dawson, ANB and Fog) and everyone picks up things without an official title.

Keeping ROB in the team shows what a leader he is in every aspect of the club except performance on field. I think he is very highly respected by the young kids who learn a lot from him.

He's not the first leader to be under pressure for his spot though.

I wouldn't have selected him, I think off field leaders can still be off field leaders without the title, but clearly I'm old school - there's a lot more to it than there use to be.

As long as we win I'm fine with it.
All good, except that ROB is not under pressure for his spot.

I'd only make one very glaring change out of that so I guess 80% hit rate is alright.

that 20% is really stinky though
If we get 80% of our coaching/selection calls right this year we'll play finals

Obviously he is under some pressure because he was dropped last year and that was with an inferior player to McAndrew in the reserves

I think Nick Murray is enough of a leader down back to have been at least considered, he's 25 this year and leaves it all on the field with his efforts. Also does a fair bit of vocal direction down back.
