I'll preface this post by saying that I absolutely love TDK, and think he can go down as one of the greatest Blues ever if he reaches his potential, and 100% makes us a better team when he plays.

We should 100% let him walk.

Not only do we NOT need another highly paid player on an already top heavy list, history has shown that unless you're one of the greatest ruckmen to ever do it (Gawn, Cox), you do NOT need a star ruck to win a premiership. This point has been made 1,000 times on this board at this point, but let's go through the last 10 premiership rucks:

Darcy Fort, Darcy Cameron, Rhys Stanley, Max Gawn (outlier), Toby Nankervis x2, Scott Lycett, Toby Nankervis (with Shaun f*cking Grigg pinch hitting), Jordan Roughead/Tom Boyd, David Hale.

Of that list, only Gawn, Cameron and Nank I'd consider above league average in their position at the time, and the names italicised I'd consider close to bottom 5 in their position in the league at the time. 4 out of the last 10 premiership rucks I would consider weak in their position. That is a crazy stat.

When you consider our list is already lop sided and we need to improve our bottom 4-6 REALLY bad, it just doesn't make sense to sign Tom up on 1m+ over a long term. Love him to bits but it's just not a smart move.
Totally agree.

Kemp - late first
McKay - 2025 and 2025 firsts
TDK - compo first
Walsh - two firsts one inside 10 plus a salary dump maybe.

Could be a huge reset. Doubt we will be contending for the next couple of this happens. Still finals could be on the cards if we play it right.
We are not getting a late first for Kemp, no shot.

I’ve heard from a tdk family member that he is likely to go to the saints…extra money the reason…apparently Tom is more about the money than Sam…the family were saints supporters so they don’t look at st kilda like we do…pretty disappointing that it’s going to be a distraction all year

Interesting that TDK / management has never given the club a “will sign by….”

I postulate that nothing has changed and this bullshit from Jay Clark about TDK deciding to postpone the decision is just that.

Just so shit those games played by “news breakers”. Total nonsense designed to spread mayhem, disharmony and get clicks!!!!!!!

I just wish there was some accountability for these pond scum.

I’m all for a refresh but getting rid of McKay, TDK & Walsh all at once is way over the top.

Haynes atleast allows us to move JSOS and McGovern up the ground.
Yet to see McGovern do anything as a forward for us.

Don't think Haynes really adds anything, he's a third 3rd tall defender.

Once we play sides with 2 genuine talls he can't mark one of them, neither can Gov. So we have to play JSOS back and go with the 4 of them which looks very disjointed

Makes perfect sense that Voss will be safe throughout this year. No point tossing him no matter what through this year and using an assistant when the club don’t rate the assistants.

Harry makes sense to Sydney but we would need a kings ransom including this and next years 1st (also have to factor in any picks they may get during trade week). Doubt if Harry went to Sydney it would be for players. Player swaps are pretty rare.

I’m expecting TDK to go and have a feeling Walsh will want out. Poo times but a mini reset could be on its way.

TDK, who would blame him for taking a $1.7M / season salary? These sorts of offers don't come along very often...

Walsh, been played out of position despite having a bad back, can understand his frustrations if there's any truth to that.

Harry is the interesting one, for whatever reason, just seems like a new environment will be good for him.

We won't be bottom 4 this year. I'm expecting around 8th-12th finish. TDK band 1 will get us a pick 7-10 this year which isn't great.

Sydney - yep 2025 + 2026 1st minimum for Harry.

Not sure who would suit Walsh, but I'd want a projected top 10 2026 pick for him minimum.

If we lose all 3 we will def struggle more next year, we might finish bottom 3... if not even lower if factoring losing Doc, Gov, Williams... depends how aggressive with clean out we go... losing those 3 might make them pull the trigger on a few others...

If we finish last, we get to pick whoever we want + match the bid for Cody and with the two additional 2026 1sts from the trades, we'd likely still have 1 which gets pushed back a few places.

So, overall we could end up with something like this:

2025:

#8 (TDK compo)
#15 (Swans pick)
#~ 40 (Lions 2nd rounder)

2026:

#1 (wooden spoon)
#2 (Cody bid match with Walsh pick + some of Swans pick)
#19 (Swans pick but pushed back)
#~ 23 (2nd rounder)

End of 2026 could be a MASSIVE off season...

We'll have so much free cap space, we can chase after pretty much any FA target we want.

I'd want us to be a bit smarter too... see if we can use a few token picks and entice a couple of veterans from the Lions/Swans/Cats to play a couple seasons with us and help bring these kids through.

We can turn the corner very quick if this eventuates...

Otherwise, we're looking at hanging onto what we've got for too long... their value drops, and we're in full rebuild mode again come 2027-28 with Tassie holding a lot of the cards at the draft...
