There is no threat. There is an unbelievably good contract in front of him. He has said he is happy. He can sign it.

I'm hoping if it does eventuate it will effect change and the AFL finally tells the players enough is enough and gives more control back to the clubs like allow trading of players if they don't have a no-trade clause.

I agree.
Unfortunately that's just been what we are for eternity.
It sucks and I hope to hell he stays.
I just think this will leave a sour taste in the mouths of ours for a long time and I think a lot of clubs will look at this with a bit of disgust to be honest

Lets be realistic he's probably won the thing by now.

Unlike Battle I don't think we can say "don't show up" if he wants out.

Windy is the more interesting inclusion given he's never won it and no one would expect to have him on the podium.

Hopefully it means something positive in terms of his contract.

I agree with the people saying their interest in footy next year will dwindle if Nas leaves. This club has the most loyal and tortured supporters. We finally have an elite A-Grader on our hands and he’s gonna walk? F**k me, right?

You work your arses off to land a guy like Nas and walks literally as soon as he goes elite.

This is also on the back of losing 3rd place in our B&F the year prior, and our most promising young player in a long time, at least when he was drafted, the year before that.

Nas leaving now confirms our status as a feeder club. We start looking at who goes next year - I'll go early and say Darcy Wilson is the one....seeds already being sowed in the media last week.

Who is gonna keeping kicking in for merch, memberships, raffle tickets, every other thing the club puts their hand out for, if the best we can hope for is the first few years of a guns career, and B-graders looking for a fat retirement fund from our "warchest"?

It’s crazy to suggest our 2nd flag hopes are imbedded with this guy, but they’ll go a long way if he stays. I totally agree, if he sees out his career with us, he’ll be in the same conversation with Harvey/Riewoldt/Lockett

Nas is literally the future of this entire rebuild that’s taken us decades. It’s not like he’s only got a couple years left in him.

Him leaving would just make it so much more difficult. At 22 he’s basically carrying the team on his back already.

Yep, we've been saying "we can't trade in elite talent we have to draft it", if Nas leaves then that's not even true.

I think it’s more likely Nas stays then goes. His form makes a lot more sense that he knows there’s more money to gain from the saints then trying to force a trade with a club that has no first round picks and limited talented players to trade. I still think his manager is holding out to get every dollar he can from the saints for the next two seasons!

Would be a huge risk for Nas going to SA.
Saints play with “give it to Nas” mode. Crows and Port less likely to hand it off to NAS at every chance like his current team mates do.

Reality is that if it gets to the 11th hour of the trade period and all Port have is their 2026 and 2027 firsts, that is what SOS will have to negotiate with, and that's what we'll get.

Is that reasonable compensation? Absolutely not. Can we do anything about it? Not really

for that to happen the afl have to break their own rule re first round picks 2 in 4 years or whatever it is,now they have done that before,but not to totally screw a club,if they sign off on port trading those picks to us when we consider that a bs trade,then we might as well totally pack it in,as much as i bag the afl i cant see them allowing port to break the rules to totally screw us,now if we said yeah give us that in reality pick 22 in 2026 and pick 26 in 2027,sounds like a bonza deal for naz,then sure give port the all clear,but WHEN we say get stuffed,there is no way the afl will force us to accept that trade proposal
