There is no threat. There is an unbelievably good contract in front of him. He has said he is happy. He can sign it.This is a hollow threat - "I would prefer to take nothing over two first round picks" is an attitude that can only exist on the internet and would make a terrible situation even worse for us
Advice from who?
If that’s the case, we’ll forever be the Canary in the coal mine. Grand Final Draw? No more rematch and instead introduced extra time. Elite talent leaves for a packet of Samboy BBQ chips? League brings in tougher rules for trading.I'm hoping if it does eventuate it will effect change and the AFL finally tells the players enough is enough and gives more control back to the clubs like allow trading of players if they don't have a no-trade clause.

Nas to kick 2 goals in the last 9 seconds for port to take the lead after Bergman kicks it the wrong way for usPou and Max hall will take us to the promise land if nas leaves… this is my 6th stage of grief![]()
I agree. If that’s the case, we’ll forever be the Canary in the coal mine. Grand Final Draw? No more rematch and extra time. Elite talent leaves for a packet of Samboy BBQ chips? League brings in tougher rules for trading.
Would still be in real awkward for him to get up there unsigned and give the classicThe club has done the smart thing this time by having the B&F before the trade period, so I think he won't say his intentions until after the B&F.
Windy is the more interesting inclusion given he's never won it and no one would expect to have him on the podium.Lets be realistic he's probably won the thing by now.
Unlike Battle I don't think we can say "don't show up" if he wants out.
The Dayne Beams special.Would still be in real awkward for him to get up there unsigned and give the classic
“I love the club and want to be here to build something special”
And then requests a trade the next day
Fair. But we will all know he's leaving if nothing has happened by then so you'd hope we dont have to spend the night pretending otherwise. The club has done the smart thing this time by having the B&F before the trade period, so I think he won't say his intentions until after the B&F.
I agree with the people saying their interest in footy next year will dwindle if Nas leaves. This club has the most loyal and tortured supporters. We finally have an elite A-Grader on our hands and he’s gonna walk? F**k me, right?I agree.
Unfortunately that's just been what we are for eternity.
It sucks and I hope to hell he stays.
I just think this will leave a sour taste in the mouths of ours for a long time and I think a lot of clubs will look at this with a bit of disgust to be honest
He’ll request it just after our season is finishedThe club has done the smart thing this time by having the B&F before the trade period, so I think he won't say his intentions until after the B&F.
This isn't just elite though for us.I agree with the people saying their interest in footy next year will dwindle if Nas leaves. This club has the most loyal and tortured supporters. We finally have an elite A-Grader on our hands and he’s gonna walk? F**k me, right?
This is also on the back of losing 3rd place in our B&F the year prior, and our most promising young player in a long time, at least when he was drafted, the year before that. You work your arses off to land a guy like Nas and walks literally as soon as he goes elite.
It’s crazy to suggest our 2nd flag hopes are imbedded with this guy, but they’ll go a long way if he stays. I totally agree, if he sees out his career with us, he’ll be in the same conversation with Harvey/Riewoldt/LockettThis isn't just elite though for us.
This is potentially a player if he stays on his current trajectory and stays with us long term could be arguably our greatest ever midfielder.
Is that hyperbolic yes do I care no
Yep, we've been saying "we can't trade in elite talent we have to draft it", if Nas leaves then that's not even true.Nas is literally the future of this entire rebuild that’s taken us decades. It’s not like he’s only got a couple years left in him.
Him leaving would just make it so much more difficult. At 22 he’s basically carrying the team on his back already.
Didn't Battle say he's out the moment our season finished? The club has done the smart thing this time by having the B&F before the trade period, so I think he won't say his intentions until after the B&F.
I like your optimismI hundred percent think if Naz stays and the trade period goes the way we hope then we take it out next year.
Plus I’m a hundred percent sure Naz stays.
for that to happen the afl have to break their own rule re first round picks 2 in 4 years or whatever it is,now they have done that before, but not to totally screw a club,if they sign off on port trading those picks to us when we consider that a bs trade, then we might as well totally pack it in,as much as i bag the afl i cant see them allowing port to break the rules to totally screw us,now if we said yeah give us that in reality pick 22 in 2026 and pick 26 in 2027,sounds like a bonza deal for naz, then sure give port the all clear, but WHEN we say get stuffed, there is no way the afl will force us to accept that trade proposalReality is that if it gets to the 11th hour of the trade period and all Port have is their 2026 and 2027 firsts, that is what SOS will have to negotiate with, and that's what we'll get.
Is that reasonable compensation? Absolutely not. Can we do anything about it? Not really
