Because anyone who has watched us recently thinks we need another slightly undersized key forward

The standard of AFL journalism.

Wow the kid has been a revelation and it wouldnt surprise if he has grown, but his reach was always exceptional. It doesnt matter how tall they are if the can grab the ball and kick goals, in a lot of ways his extra mobility makes him more dangerous. Kudos to Brisbane for taking him @ 31 when we took Collard at 28 it looks like an exceptional pick by them and huge reach from us.

Just a little reminder from Max Gawn that it’s about loving the club not the individual which is paramount

Bro if we go back through your posts over the last 72 hours you’d have

50 saying his staying
50 saying he’s gone
25 saying we can get a good deal
25 saying we should let him walk to the PSD

People gotta stop being desperate to get ITK status and people have to stop being so gullible with this stuff.

The only truth is that there is a circle jerk at 12pm on Friday at Linton Street

Darren Parkin (works at SEN) on this weeks Unplugged podcast is still hearing positive things about Nas staying. Believed it was questionable the past fews weeks but the tide has turned more positive towards him staying the past few days.

Hopefully there is something in this.
I respect a football fan that doesn’t go on Big Footy.

Where have I said he is going cupcake? Receipts are there. Go look.

I’m literally quoting what I posted.

So far that’s a new contract offered ✅
And clubs confidence increasing ✅

Suggest you stick me on ignore.

What's incorrect?
Where do i begin...

at GWS, he created a list that has consistently played finals...when he left there for Carlton, a great deal of GWS players were coming out out of contract and due the tightening of GWS list, there were many players being squeezed out. He took advantage as did other clubs.
Now Carlton are faltering, so why not take advantage there? other clubs are, his son looks to be gong to Collingwood next year.

he has brought in only Dow from Carlton...Stocker joined before he got here and caminitti never played for them....Jack Macrae was a SOS product, unsure what number he wore at carlton

Its a bit dependent on the group of players and picks.

Bergman probably means 1 first.

Berry should mean 2 firsts. (I doubt we ever get 3 picks in this unless were giving some back).

Cents on the dollar is debateable, we should be firm but we also shouldnt be assholes who refuse whats seen as a decent offer just because we can.

The reality is if he asks to leave it almost certainly gets done, we should push for value but theres a line where we arent helping ourselves and we risk the PSD thing.

Its Ports problem until they make it ours.
They will make it ours straight away. Look at it from their perspective. If Nas makes the call he wants to go, they make a pack of chips offer as a lowball starter, then up it a bit for a skerrick of decency, knowing that if he walks to the draft there's no way anyone else takes him in front of Port. Endgame is we're going to end up with a take it or leave it that screws us.

Chief has to give Stav a % of the ad money he makes.

A solid 40% of this thread is either Stav posting or people fighting with Stav cause they don’t like what he posted.
Didn’t post yesterday.

You all wet the bed just fine in my absence.

This may indicate that neither SA club can package up a deal that would facilitate a trade.

This whole Nas deal after the generally shitty season is draining.
It's only been draining because his development has been exponential this year with his move in to the midfield. So our admiration for him as a player has similarly grown, and the win against Melbourne was like a furnace that forged admiration in to love.

Embrace that part of the journey. Maybe even reflect on what the club is doing well to facilitate that type of growth. We saw it in Phillipou late last year. Windhager is showing signs. Hall has shown tremendous growth.

Even after Nas signs his new contract there is still a good chance he may choose to finish his career in SA. Don't forget to enjoy him while he is here.

I genuinely believe if Paul Conners was his manager, a deal would already be done because of the difficulties both SA clubs have in getting a deal one. One of those 2 years + a trigger for 7 type contracts that many of his clients have signed.
I agree. It probably would’ve been done by now.

In fact, Connors would have stitched together the outline of a deal for a trade if NWM was able to get home.

The last thing Connors would want would be for the losing club to be ripped off. That is very bad for business.

He would have spoken to all clubs, laid it all out transparently, made suggestions and then actively monitored the situation. Intervening or assisting if required.

Colin Young is another powerful Manager who would do the same.

They don’t like letting speculation drag on and to potentially cause angst among various parties. It’s business. Pure and simple. Total pragmatism.

The club still hasn’t been approached by any party to gauge what it will take to get a trade done.

So if Williams is checking the appetite of both SA clubs. He better be starting from a high value.
This would be a very good sign that NWM is likely to re-sign with Saints.

Or it indicates Williams is utterly incompetent.

I’d like to believe it is the former.

From the Port Board.

Tom Morris this morning

“no one knows what nas wants to do, not even his closest friends. All 3 clubs are confident that he will be there (at their respective clubs)”

Tommy boy must be reading the Bigfooty ITKs for all teams.

If he is hearing we are confident, I think that has more weight, then the other two supposedly being confident.

Even without Nas I think we're on the right path.

Future best 22 has these under-25s:

  • Tauru - great start
  • Boxshall - solid start
  • Garcia - progressing well
  • Phillipou - unlucky season but plenty in the tank
  • Windhager - more progression
  • Owens - bounced back from last year
  • Caminiti - found his spot
  • Hall - revelation
  • Sharman - keeps improving
  • King - very good if forgotten

Along with some of: Travaglia, Dodson, Wilson, Hastie, Keeler, Schoenmaker, Collard, Heath, O'Connell, Henry.

That's a core coming through fine.

No need to panic.

So far Nas is the only one actualised. King, Clark, Coffield's generation looked good on paper. McCartin, Dunstan, Acres before them.

It's at least giving us a chance on a big step up at some point but if we leak the ones that are any good we are going nowhere.

What about his players who are not stars?

Those who are on the fringes but may desperately want a short term deal to stay on a club list and to keep their dream alive?

If clubs hate their manager, and it’s a line ball decision, the human element naturally kicks in.

Player managers, with poor reputations among the clubs, can be detrimental to those players who can be generously described as good ordinary players.

That’s why the powerful and successful long term player managers have strong working relationships with ALL of the clubs. They get stuff done without causing

The majority of their clients are not stars of the competition.
The players that sign with him, whether stars or average players, will love that he is doing everything to secure the best deal for them. The clubs will still deal with him, whether they like him or not, as he has the playing assets that they desire. No club is going to cut off their own nose because a manager played a couple of clubs off against each other to secure his client the best possible deal. However, he may lose clients if he lets his client settle for less than they could reasonably get just to keep a couple of clubs onside.

Tom Morris is trying to break news without any news to break.

Could he be that incompetent?

Or when Tony first said Nas was staying all that time ago, Nas had verbally told the club and Ben Williams he wanted to stay at the Saints, and told Williams to work out a deal with the club. And all that has been happening is a Mexican stand off between Williams and SOS with contract offers increasing as Nas has an unprecedented rise of form.
