My issue is that we've looked like a shambles on field quite often.

It get's forgotten in the glow of the Melbourne win and young players improving but we have been TERRIBLE at times this year.

I want to see a huge focus on skills this preseason.

If we don't turn it around next season I hope they hand the keys to Enright. Let him bring in assistants of his choice etc.

To me it's checking out of games for long periods or failing to get motivated for some matches that is hurting us most. We can look very skilled when up but you can often tell we don't really care at times.

Some leadership that demands high standards and commitment would be nice.

I think you have to be able to see both sides of the argument.

Weve gone backwards in the wins column and ladder position, its very hard to argue thats a positive. Injuries have again been ****ed and ruined any real shot we had at building a season and weve played some ****ing deplorable footy.

Conversely we have seen more from some of the kids and weve uncovered a few gems (and seen Nas go full super Saiyan).

If we keep Nas then the dees game and whatever we build from here could be a critical mass point. Conversely we lose Nas and were probably not improving all that much next year.

We seem to be banking on Max and Pou just becoming what we all hope they could be, i get it, but its not assured.
Max has to get on the park first , i think anyone banking on him making the difference is wishful thinking the way he has been the last 3 years

Tom Morris “no one knows what nas wants to do, not even his closest friends. All 3 clubs are confident that he will be there (at their respective clubs)”

Sounds like Benny Williams is maximising his clients value.

Sorry for reposting this. Maximus was all over it.

Or when Tony first said Nas was staying all that time ago, Nas had verbally told the club and Ben Williams he wanted to stay at the Saints, and told Williams to work out a deal with the club. And all that has been happening is a Mexican stand off between Williams and SOS with contract offers increasing as Nas has an unprecedented rise of form.
Exactly..

This may indicate that neither SA club can package up a deal that would facilitate a trade.
Whilst I still think Naz will stay at the Saints, if he does leave I hope we don't accept any GOPs or unproven players in the deal. Jack Whitlock's name has been mentioned regularly as a possible trade but, realistically, he is nothing more than a thirty-something pick that is yet to show anything. He is currently on a par with someone like James Barrat (pick 32) as far as value goes. Both have potential to be solid KP players in a few years from now but are currently the equivalent of dime-a-dozen mid second round players.

On the other hand, Bergman has proven himself to be of value, and Berry is a very highly rated junior that we tried to nab with our future first at last year's draft, so those two, along with Port's future first(s) would be a good starting point. I just hope Whitlock is not included in the negotiations.

Mate, I think Tony’s in his fallout bunker until Round 1 next year.
C’mon Tones; hopes fading fast 😟

Michael Whiting thinks he’s a bit clever here trying to throw shit on the club.
Queensland based journalist who would have thought .

Well done Brisbane great selection, does not however change the fact that fair price is not being paid for father sons or academy kids .

Cheap shot and really poor journalism.

Where have I said he is going cupcake? Receipts are there. Go look.

I’m literally quoting what I posted.

So far that’s a new contract offered ✅
And clubs confidence increasing ✅

Suggest you stick me on ignore.
That's literally my point though

All you did was quote one of your 10,000 previous posts which was a blind shot at the stumps in an attempt to try and convince people that you have any sort of inside knowledge.

No one cares man.

This thread is literally at the stage of just quote posting ourselves from two weeks ago with emojis :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

One reason why the signing may be delayed is that he doesn’t want to leave St Kilda, and he’s going to need to sit down with his family and tell them that at the end of the season. It’s his mum that’s dragging him home.

I have absolutely no inside knowledge, but this possibility has struck me too. Nas' father, Terry, gave up his AFL career with the Saints to take Nas' mum, who had health struggles back to SA (this is documented in the Age 20 years ago).

It may well be that there is a split in Nas' family about his best next course of action (my guess is that Terry is key in all this), and that Nas himself is split... (this fits with Ben Williams stating that Nas hasn't yet made his mind up)... in this scenario it would make sense for the young man to make a final decision after the season when he can better figure it out with a head clearer than it would be when playing every week.

BREAKING: I'm hearing Nas will be a late OUT tomorrow as has taken a "time out" due to the current media attention and has flown to Darwin at the club's expense with his manager, step-dad Terry and cousin Tex for a BARRAMUNDI fishing charter to clear his mind and make his decision. Ben Long has suggested the charter "operator" - make of that what you will. This is some kind of a development, he may have played his last game in Saints colours sadly, if the fish are biting. :)
Well done for lasting a day before you copped a holiday in the sin bin LOL

If the wash up to the story is Nas wanted to stay but Saints were stubborn on putting together a competitive offer then the St Kilda administration will be torn down and SOS will never work in senior footy again.

To me this is the most likely scenario. His manger is happy to sign him up for the $2 million on offer from Port but we have committed a lot of money to chase others so we are trying to negotiate back the price because we are chasing players to improve and make him more likely to stay in the future.

Because anyone who has watched us recently thinks we need another slightly undersized key forward

The standard of AFL journalism.

Size is irrelevant if you are dominant. Owens could be redeployed somewhere else if we had someone better. Collingwood play with a heap of mid sized forwards and do okay.

Respectfully we have to do the linear discussion alot.

Our projection this year was supposed to be building not sliding.

All the pieces are in place now, the injuries helped unearth some players and positional changes but i cant really see how anyone gives this year as an improvement.

Yep, we have been exposed and gone backwards on nearly every metric. It's a write-off season that needs to be chucked in the bin. List management went young but had limited cover for injury. Hopefully it's fast tracked and uncovered some quality as you say but that's about the only positive.

If players want to leave and no one wants to come isn't that more on the coaches and senior players than the list manager?

SOS's job with Nas is not only to convince him dollars wise but to show Williams we won't take a crap deal. If we are going to give up arguably the best young player in the comp then we need a HUGE return. The Port people claiming otherwise need to be laughed out of the room by SOS.

Not if people outside the club see you as being at the bottom of a rebuild with years of bottom 4 finishes ahead of us. Battle got us a high pick in a good draft but also set back our best line and made us a lot less competitive. If going backwards leaks quality players as fast as you replace them there really is no point.

Because you, dear sir, are talking absolute dribble from your mothers basement and are obsessed with trying to have anonymous people on a footy forum believe you are some magical ITK unicorn.

Get some sun champ

This couldn't be coming from the poster that thought they were ****ing hilarious and patted themselves on the back for trolling their own supporter forum ?

That would be ludicrous, couldn't be the same....

As an addendum, let's not forget that Nas literally said at the end of the game that the club and manager are working it out.

Cheap shot and really poor journalism.

The academy shot was really poor, but as a club I think we should wear that as a badge of honour! Without us being so vocal I doubt anything would have changed.

Morris was Brisbane's first pick in that draft, because they traded out to get points in the previous draft to take Will Ashcroft and Jaspa Fletcher. Ironically if they didnt have access to those two players their 2023 draft hand would be different.

Again kudos to Brisbane for taking Morris, but the ignorance of the journalist shouldnt be overlooked.
