We obviously don’t need it, but I think it’s fair to say it’s frustrating being in no man’s land (middle 6 team, not playing finals) especially when perhaps half your wins come at the very end of the season… barely scraping wins over the likes of Melbourne, north, Richmond… an injury ravaged bombers?

And there are pretty sizeable inequities in the fixturing. It’s not the be all end all but it can add up… or you can be like Carlton and choke every season despite really favourable draws.

If we win 10 games this season, we are only one of a small handful of clubs who have won at least 10 games every season in the 2020s. It’s just peculiar being a saints fan, I think we are truly the most no man’s land team of this decade so far given our ability to beat the best and lose to the worse and be decent year in year out without really making any marks or being a threat. I’m very optimistic about the direction we’re going in, but yes, it’s frustrating being the middle man team.
Yeah , just a useless stat that was posted days ago ,

But true , we are up ship creek without a paddle

This is the joy of being a saints supporter. This off season has the potential to be one of the best ever. Bringing in players we need and keeping our stars. Or one of the biggest disasters in our history. There is no middle ground.
I mean the middle ground is kind of bringing in talent, and losing Nas.

Disaster would be doing nothing and losing Nas.

Don't drink and post, you make zero sense.
Tell me the contracts offered TO TDK and Aleer.
You are the one bleating about maxing out the cap and you want to fo what the club did with Dunstan, Billings and those other spuds.
Sleep it off soak.

Okay bipolar Lola. Funny how your favourite idiot Gags could still spend half our cap on Hanners, Hill, Howard and Ryder.

You tell me to ignore the stated figures in the media but take Stagro's figures as gospel. Giving an extra $200k each to Windy and Nas is a lot better investment than 20% of the salary cap for 7 years on a B grader in a position that we don't need and a C grade project key back that isn't that tall.

You keep going off like a chihuahua on a RedBull bender though.

The mega star who we're giving the biggest contract in the history of sport just got flogged in the ruck by Witts and did less around the ground as well. He's also kicked 5 goals from 20 games this season, with a handful of those being played primarily forward since he was pushed out of the number one ruck spot by Pittonet.

I don't care if TDK's manager is pissed off and won't want to deal with us for a few years. We need to pull this offer to save us from ourselves.

Uh, no kidding. Manufactured inequities.

Prime example, GCS who finished next to us on the ladder last season.
Take a little peak at their fixture - especially the first 6-8 weeks, in comparison to ours this season.

The AFL and TV fixtures went teams on the up or playing attractive footy. When we have had good years we get good time slots and better match ups. GC keep teasing that they are about to burst out but if they can't perform they'll lose patience with them again.

Imperative to sign Nas, he's a hype player and already making himself into a one man show. The TV networks wants those guys that neutrals will tune in to watch play. He will bump attendance and TV viewership. He's a cash cow.

He has a bout 5 absolutely dominant games a season. His best looks amazing but the bad looks very average. The Carlton guy is right. Marshall is much more consistent.

He has never averaged 24 hitouts or more than than half a goal per game in a season, and he's currently in his 8th season. Genuinely not a top 5 ruck in the comp. Zak Jones is good for 5 good games a year as well.

He's very similar to Marshall in that he tends to win his own ball and dump kick forward without much of a plan.

The real advantage might come if they re introduced the run up in the ruck dual but give it three months and a the first ACL and the AFL are likely to change it back.

We built a ruck set up for the third man up and they changed it all on us.

Marshall is an all-round footballer and not just a ruckman. He's the not the reason we are not making the finals, the club has it all wrong. They are targeting the wrong area, the TDK offer has caused many unintentional ripples.

Also has the potential to be catastrophic

It’s unlikely more than likely but there’s a world where we lose NAS, Steele, Ro and to a lesser extent Windy
Howard likely won’t be back either

I know it’s a doomsday scenario but it isn’t out of the realms of possibility.

The counter to that is what you’re saying, we sign them all up and next year looks bloody exciting and a whole lot different.

What happens the next 2 months will make or break the club for the foreseeable future I think, I really hope that the people in charge understand that.

At the very least I would definitely reduce our offer. The $1.7 million was made at the start of the year when TDK was flying. Since then, he's had a very poor run of form. We've also seen encouraging internal growth in the team, including the blossoming of some stars that deserve the pay day, and promising rucks developing in the 2s. He isn't needed as much and the offer should reflect that.

Same goes for Aleer tbh. I was at the Giants game against North and I just don't really rate him. He's not big enough to be a key defender and he still seems to be developing his footy IQ. Had 3.2 kicked on him by Darling and was the lowest-rated rated player by AFL fantasy on the ground. He's not awful, but certainly not one that I would be throwing millions at.

It's shaping up to be the most pivotal off-season for the club ever.

The situation in April shouldn't define the situation in August.

We as a club should be adapting to the situation right now.

Everyone that post rumours that turn out to be untrue should be banned
Where would you stop , thats the question but yeah 3rd 4th handed info is a bit of a stretch, some of the so called first hand info is bad enough
