Ryan wants St Kilda given tight relationships with Saints players including NWM

600k/year for 3 years with a games trigger for a fourth

Link to Marshall is that his brother Ollie Marshall plays local footy in Geelong so Row spends a lot of time there

I could live with this contract.

When you put into perspective the names who were on the list last year and two years ago, it’s no wonder we’ve got cash to spend on these types.

Gresham
Billings
Ross
Membrey
Battle
Crouch

That’s a sizeable chunk of change out the door within 2 years!

I was listening to ABC on Sunday. Cameron Ling spoke very well about Jack Gunston having a career best year at 33-34. He looked done at the Lions and then Hawks go and get him again.

Cameron Ling talked about age, particularly ‘30’ being old, as not a thing anymore. Clubs have the right people in place to manage bodies. And they’re recognising the footy brains and smarts and the good players rather than the age. They know that if a body is healthy, they’ll get out of it what they need regardless of the age. Good preseason, good management, all of that. Ling went on to say in his time at the Cats they still had a good footy department and leading the pack, but even then, 10-15 years ago or whatever, they still didn’t understand the management stuff properly and sent sore bodies out to continue to train and play and bash and crash.

So let’s not see 29 as old. 29-32 years with a 4th potentially triggered. With the right management it’s not old. Back in the new group who’ve identified the player they want and the footy IQ they want and let them manage it appropriately.

In addition to Ling, and I apologise as I forgot who was hosting (Matt Clinch or Corbin Middlemas maybe?) spoke about Gunston & Breust continuing on also as coaches for the young guys, given the soft cap limit on coach spending, these smart footy players can contribute in many facets. Ryan can do the same for Collard, and the non-indigenous forwards.

If true there’s no triggers the rumour of triggers is false? 😂

Will be interesting to see what happens in this area, could be a handshake/shoulder ride clause built in for the extra years 😈
Nas manager said on SEN interview if saints are improving or getting better Nas will reassess his contract situation but would be happy to continue his tenure

If you assume the rumours are true the side looks quite exciting come Round 1.

B: Aleer Howard Wilkie
HB: Sinclair Tuaru Stocker
C: Hill Pou Wood
HF: Higgins Sharman Hall
F: Ryan King Marshall
FOL: TDK Steele NAS

INT: Windhager Owens Garcia McRae Clark

Emg: Dodson, Henry, Boxshall, Wilson, Caminiti

Tough gig picking side. Stocker, Hill and McRae got the benefit of being the incumbents. Good batch of emergencies and haven’t considered the draftees.

I pursuit of recruits might be a reflection of our opinion of the talent pool at the draft. We might only take our first rounder and Fincher and maybe some mature agers like Voss and or Campigli if it falls our way.

1. I reckon the other end of the ground has been the big problem this season.
2. At least one of those four are on the bench for over half the time
3. Owens has proved how important he is the last two weeks in his absence
4. Hall will swing into the midfield but not most of the time
5. Ryan is not a pressure forward, and I think Higgins is a superior "small leading-marking forward" and Hall is a superior high half-forward

So I struggle to see it.
Also where does a fit Henry fit in

Post 2000 i would reckon there have been way more 250, 300, 350 and even 400 gamers compared to the past.

Agreed. Don’t think Ling was implying it’s only improved recently. Potentially that it’s getting better… and I guess that it’s also not about the games played necessarily, it’s about getting the 12/15/18 high quality games out of the older players instead of 23-24 games with a few pushing he body to the absolute limit and having to finish up a year or two or three earlier

From the Bassat interview, talking about the infamous Swanky Brighton Dinner disaster that nonplussed the Wanganeen Milera family so:

“We did have a lunch really early in the year at my house with Nas and his family. It was takeaway Japanese in plastic wrappers, I am pretty sure Ross was in sandals and it was very different to what was presented. And I would be surprised if there was any offence to that"

I think Tom Morris has been watching too may Hollywood films! maybe they just weren’t into Ross's skanky sandals or the gyoza were cold?
He was probably just annoyed he was served inferior Japanese food compared to what Mrs Owens regularly makes for them.

It is but they done exactly grow on trees.
Just have to trust in our development
And the defensive strategy and structure between River, Enright & Lyon. We can’t just go and stock up with state league players either as we seem to be filling up the list in a hurry already. In terms of talls, Tauru, Aleer, Wilkie, Howard… and then Caminiti & Barrett if he comes good. There’s hopefully enough there to develop well and play the right game plan.

And if the media is reporting 600k, it's probably 450-500k with triggers that could get it to 600k.

That’s true if he gets another contract. Dow has one but we are heading into the last road and Jimmy doesn’t. I love Jimmy and wish he was 28 but he is not. Can see them opting for the younger stocker with Fincher biting at his heels. Windy is the Smokey for the role if all our preferred midfield options are available.

I watched all the shows tonight and I'll go back to not watching them apart from 360 as I enjoy listening to the insights of the coaches. Here's a review on a great night.

Agenda Setters - Craig the boss had to cover for his two stars because they all knew that the receipts would flow for hours otherwise.

Caro may have spoken bur i can't recall. After her "Saints have botched it" effort on Saturday on 3AW about the same time Nas was giving Steeley and Wilkes the good news would have been...well let's say a little embarrassing. Ross gave her the raised eyebrow stare on her first attempt so she skedaddled back to safety of not saying anything lest she "appear" to be f'ing stupid. Got to give her that for her long experience.

Bobble head Kane gave a great rendition as "The Mummy" as usual when he's close to Ross. So same same.

Nick was a Saints nuffy. Which was ust beautiful.

Footy Classified - Damo is the scraps that Hutchy left behind. Nas 2nd story. A completely worthless waste of my time. Not one person on a footy panel worth worrying about. That's a spectacular waste of money at the Nine organisation.

The Couch - Lethal always great and Bucks was listening as hard as all of us for the gold. Hes a good coach. If he listened to Lethal about demanding his own people. And he interviews Melbourne rather than Melbourne still having their head up their arse it may work out.

I'm not a producer but I'll give some free advice. Dopey on the left couch that's hosting needs some training. Best premiership celebration ever doesn't make you good at the caper. They need to help him. The glasses one needs to be told "thanks for your service but don't Come U Next Tuesday". My goodness Lewis makes those on Classified look like a meeting of Mensa. Annoying, sanctimonious..Oh sorry Hawthorn through and Through. Makes sense.

360 - Gary told us about Nas last week so he got to collect his flowers. Well played and listening to Hardwick and Scott was informative. The best show of the night.

Seriously was hard work.
Footy Classified really struggles doesn’t it?
I mean Lloyd is adeadswt fckwit
Damo looks homeless
McClure…..ya just want to go bang!
I think Bartel is the only one with any cred ??

And On the Couch since the ooor Riewoldt
Jordan Lewis, and also Jack Riewoldt are two media “personalities” (clearly neither has one), that aren’t worth listening to.

I expect their media careers to be short, once those in charge recognize their room temperature IQs and tepid opinions on everything.

Haven’t watched on the couch at all, simply because those two aren’t worth my time.

I’d say the same thing if they were positive about St Kilda. They’re just boring ex-footballers with no substance. Media training may well have ruined an entire generation of future football analysts
Yep they are terrible
Followed by the very poor cast on Footy Classified

TBH don't think you can blame Media training.

Joey is pretty damn good at the media game, it's just picking xTime premiership players who played for big sides and turn out to be utter dropkicks.

A lot has been said about Nathan Buckley since he was a first year player in the AFL but 2 words I would never say about are him "Unprofessional and Stupid".

Best 22 with the rumoured players and 5 man bench looks great:

FB Stocker Wilkie Tauru

HBF Sinclair Aleer Clark

C Windhager Steele Wilson

HFF Ryan Sharman Hall

FF Higgins King Marshall

Foll TDK, Nas, Phillipou

Int Macrae, Hill, Wood, Garcia, Owens

I personally would prefer Howard in Aleer's place, but will back the club
Jackson Voss instead of Stocker
