Port CEO couldn’t bring himself to say that Butters staying at Port for next year was categorical

Also couldn’t rule out Butters being involved in a potential NWM trade - instead saying he has faith the list mgmt team will do what’s best for the list going into 2026 and beyond

It’s such click bait quotes.

On Butters’ potential involvement with potential NWM trade:

“All these things are hypotheticals”

“We’ve got a strong list mgmt team…we’ll put our faith and confidence that whatever they do this year will improve our list going into 2026”

Last one on Nas:

if he nominated the club as his club of choice. Do you believe you can get the deal done ? Are you in a position to get the deal done?

“Yeah I’m confident if that were to happen our guys could make the deal happen. BUT THERE IS ALOT OF WATER TO GO UNDER THE BRIDGE YET”
He didn't sound confident but that might just be who he speaks.

I understand we’re saints fans but we need to stop under valuing Butters.
He would be amazing in the red white and black even as a straight swap.
Butters is a jet. The only thing I would say is that at his size and his combative style, this might shorten his prime.

Nas looks like he's got 350-plus elite games written all over him.

Well, we haven't climbed up the ladder with the other 22 either.
Long-term he's one big important part to our future success.
Yeah for sure, I was just responding to someone suggesting we'd be bottom 2 without Nas next year. We won't be, we are improving, and we have a good young list with plenty of room for growth.
Nas is obviously our best player, and losing him would be terrible, but I think through natural growth of players like Tauru, Philippou, Hall, Garcia, Wilson etc, we'll still be better next year than we were this year, with or without Nas. We'll also likely get 2-3 good young players to replace Nas if he leaves, on top of our natural first rounder, and TDK and Aleer.
So yeah, sucks if Nas leaves, but it's not the end of the world, and to be honest it's probably good that he's in the form that he is in currently, as we will get something decent back.

Doubt the manager cares about that though.
He will if one of his clients ends up at St Kilda or wants to come. Can't imagine dealing with a pissed off club is going to be helpful in getting a good deal.

People should actually listen to the audio. As non committal as anything. Even says “a lot of water to go under the bridge” with regards to getting a deal done for Nas.

If he had signed with us there would be no reason for the Port CEO to be discussing it. It looks as if he has asked to be traded but Port are working out if they can facilitate it? Sounds like Butters is in play for a trade also, whether he would be prepared to come to us tiem will tell?
