I'm finding it excruciating. Finally getting one of the best players in footy but fretting about him leaving constantly. It's like cosmic punishment following St Kilda. Just when anything looks positive we manage to end up back on our arses.
Just shows what I have been saying for months, we are not allowed to get good top 10 players.
They say, you need to pick better at the draft, so we get a match winner at pick 11 and we are about to get shafted.
The NGA and FS have destroyed any chance we have of accumulating matchwinners.
Say we get pick 5 ad one of the picks for NAZ, that turns into pick 9 or ten as all the excellent draftees are given to the fake northern clubs for nothing.
The AFL just has tied a hand behind our back and even if we are good, it gets taken from us with shit compo.
Just about done with the corruption of this league.

StC, look at everything that the club has done for young Nas. Save from offering him a deal to be the highest paid player in existence before he broke out (which still might not have been enough based on the lack of activity now). Revisionist history and hindsight is great, but none of us, not even SOS could see the impact he would have over the last 6 weeks and the media beat up that would ensue.
Thats part of being a list manager. To understand when you offer big money on potential growth to keep them out of their last year of their contract or when you need to offer more to be a point of difference to clubs who reside in his home state.

We offered big money to king to keep him wasn't an issue then.

But suddenly were playing it conservative with NAS. Cmon.

So according to some, we should renege on our offer to TDK of $1.7m. And do the same for Aleer and his $700,000.

And then add that $2.4m to the $1.4m or so we’ve already offered Nas.

He can then tell his mummy he’s staying at the Saints on $3.8m p.a. as he hands her the keys to her new Lamborghini.

Then we sack SOS and head to the mystical land of everlasting flags.

Did anyone actually suggest any of this

True, but when we picked up Collard, and not Logan, we had as Third Tall Marking Options, Membrey, Sharman, Owens and Pou. Plus also Caminiti and Keeler.

Lions have picked very well, but you can full understand why we went for Collard, and not another Third Tall Forward.
We are screaming out for a roving small forward. We need to keep trying.

Right now battle.

But guess what we could have had both! Which is an important point given they're playing opposite ends of the ground at times which should be our plan

Tauru has potential and loads of it but we are miles off him playing anywhere near the consistent level battle did and is.

Now we are spending roughly the same money on aleer. Plus hoping we can turn potential into the actual. Taking on all the development risk. How do we know the Viking won't go to another club like battle did?

I hope he can get there.
Honestly I don’t think he’s mikes off. Tbh I think he’s 20 games and a solid pre season.

His closing speed and ability to spoil is rediculous. Countless times I’ve been shocked at how he’s managed to get a gist in. His marking within 4 games is already improving.

As I’ve said multiple times I’d just play him forward.

I don't blame RTB being prickly to the press, to be honest (just watched today's presser). The press treat our team with disrespect, negativity and love to punch down on us. They would love for Nas to leave. They can all get $%^&ed.
Agree, I thought it was a tad disrespectful IMO. Steele playing his 200th who’s been captain of the club for however many games, and all they want to talk about is how he was sub last week (to manage his load).

You think he's 20 games off being the third best defend in the comp. Right.

He looks a good 3 seasons away from being consistent

Tried to do an objective exercise of which 20 players, in order, I'd want the club to keep for next year. Mostly gut feel but I tried to take into account potential, injury history, age, etc.
Harder than it looks. Definitely not what i would have thought the order would be before I wrote it down.
1. Nas
2. Pou
3. Viking
4. Hall
5. Owens
6. Garcia
7. Wilkie
8. King
9. Sinclair
10. Wilson
11. Higgins
12. Boxshall
13. Trav
14. Sharman
15. Windy
16. Dodson
17. Hammer
18. Marshall
19. Henry
20. Hastie

King ended up higher than i would have thought. Trav and Windy lower than i would have predicted.

If anyone thinks Battle is the third best defender in the comp then spare me.

But yes I don’t think Taru is that for off.
