Josh Battle is the 27th rated key defender in the AFL (he’s nine places in front of Caminiti) according to official AFL player ratings - https://www.wheeloratings.com/afl_stats.html?comp=afl&season=2025
That's very good. Hammer is much younger and has a higher ceiling.
Whilst I love the AFL player ratings it's not exactly a stat that highlights defensive backs.Josh Battle is the 27th rated key defender in the AFL (he’s nine places in front of Caminiti) according to official AFL player ratings - https://www.wheeloratings.com/afl_stats.html?comp=afl&season=2025

I don't think he's got Battle's ceiling, but I think he can be a good AFL defender, and that's a great outcome for us.
Just a rehash of the pervious article. Doesn’t get done we call nas on the last day of the trade period and say we are sending you to the pre season draft or you can resign with us and give them time to acquire the picks. Up to youView attachment 2388839
Getting real sick of reading about this shit without any evidence
They’ll despise it if he re-signs
Then the club gets nothing for him. Why do it?It does when it's a top 5 player at 22 years old. It's a one of one scenario, this hasn't happened before.
The system is broken, and we have to be prepared for him to walk to PSD if they're not prepared to pay what he's worth.
He is also physically bigger than Battle and can play FB
Not a key defenders arseh*le. A tall flanker he gets cheap handballs and sideways kicks in hawthorns system.Josh Battle is the 27th rated key defender in the AFL (he’s nine places in front of Caminiti) according to official AFL player ratings - https://www.wheeloratings.com/afl_stats.html?comp=afl&season=2025
In which way/s? Out of contract player wanting to go elsewhere. Not remotely the same situation at all.
Because west coast could draft him knowing in 12 months time they trade him to SA for 3 first rounders. No one is going to let this guy slip through. Generational players won’t just walk in the draftIn which way/s? Out of contract player wanting to go elsewhere.
I’m not sure if you can trade pre season draft picksWhat happens if we trade up to pick 1? Does that mean we get first crack at PSD?
If so, this years first plus next years first for Eagles 1st pick?
Have that deal on standby. Tell NAS we tried to do a deal but u are worth more than what Port can offer.
Therefore, we have no choice to walk him you to PSD and take the nuclear option.
We need some leverage or we are stuffed.
So it is based off finishing order, not what the draft order is?I’m not sure if you can trade pre season draft picks
Wondering why not? If Nas says he wants to go back to Adelaide we do not hold the trump cards. Port and/or Crows can offer A,B,C - whatever they like that makes them seem reasonable. If we say no, then what happens next? Endgame if Nas is determined to go back to Adelaide is that we will have to take what's offered or let him walk to the draft. As I said mate.
I can’t see that outcome.
Doubt it. If he says he wants to go home as his reason for leaving, no way he's going to end up anywhere but Adelaide. He is the one pulling the strings. If he decides he wants to go home and makes that very clear, no-one is going to pick him and 'try and make it work'.Because west coast could draft him knowing in 12 months time they trade him to SA for 3 first rounders. how's rance going tonight?I think youre under selling his current season. Fox had him as the 3rd best defender.
He never was a third tall. He's a genuine CHB similar to Rance.
It’s called draft tampering. He can’t do thatWondering why not? If Nas says he wants to go back to Adelaide we do not hold the trump cards. an uncompromised draft? i neverI’m not sure if you can trade pre season draft picks
I'm okay with this, Nas has to realise both Adelaide clubs have crap/no currency to make the trade this year. The more noise that gets made about how hard a prospective trade is, the better. Could help him decide it's worth another two years rather than the inevitable pain and frustration.View attachment 2388839

Didn't Luke Ball do exactly the same thing? Made it clear he'd only play for Collingwood. All the other teams were able to choose him but no-one did because everyone knew. It’s called draft tampering. He can’t do that
Yeah but no team could draft him and trade him in 12 months for 3 first rounders. Would be a dream for a rebuilding club.Didn't Luke Ball do exactly the same thing? Made it clear he'd only play for Collingwood. All the other teams were able to choose him but no-one did because everyone knew.
Think you're not taking into consideration the wishes of the player. Can't see him nominating Adelaide as where he wants to play and then shipping off to Perth or Brisbane or anywhere else. Not going to happen.Yeah but no team could draft him and trade him in 12 months for 3 first rounders. Would be a dream for a rebuilding club.
The trifectaYep!! Doesn’t it suck!!![]()

It’s a business. You’re not a real football club if you’re not doing what’s right for your club. Would be gold falling in their lapThink you're not taking into consideration the wishes of the player.
