My good knowledge of the 2025 Draftees is limited to only one player who in phantom drafts is rated often in the the Top 5, and if not Top 10.

He is related to my wife and we have followed him since he was 10. We know both him and his father well enough that they have invited us to attend Draft Night which will be a real buzz for us both.

Unfortunately of all the AFL Clubs that have interviewed him, both Father and Son rate St Kilda as easily the worst and least professional of the Clubs that they have spoken with. All other interviews were were more elaborate, and projected an air of genuine interest in the player. The St Kilda interview in comparison was token in nature and seem more focused to the player concerned in trying to catch him out on any bad habits.

Now on the one hand, one can understand that given our likely ladder finish and taken into account FS/Academy that we are most unlikely to be able to land him. But why interview him in such a poor way? They would have been better off not interviewing him. Certainly now if they do end up landing him, they will now be starting off from a very negative beginning. While they have their preferences on which clubs drafts him, prior to the interview they were not negative about St Kilda. Whereas now they are.

But for which team is signing on to?

I doubt he goes. He's just turned 20 and is performing. Aleer is 3 years older and no more established.

I was commenting that I do not currently see a position for Arie given his games to date. Arie in particular does not at all look like a Key Back to me. His lack of pace limits his use elsewhere.

I however, would tend to believe that he will be given a one year extension.

He is going to have to step up a lot for him to become an AFL regular.


I can understand people wanting a better alternative than Aleer. Unless something radical happens that will not be Arie.
Options are limited from other Clubs. Maybe So SOS, though he largely probably has found a new home.

Look I’m not claiming it as my info. I’ve got it off someone who was there and had their own conversations.

I wouldn’t say it’s not great. I’d just say there is no apparent update/progress/outcome

Regardless of what tony said, he clearly hasn't put pen to paper yet.

So even if he's well informed its still only his opinion.

And maybe NAS actually hasn't told anyone? Because its a huge decision for him.

I think we can admit it to ourselves. Nas is gone. It's round 23 and if he truly wanted to stay at the club it would already be done.

Probable re-sign: Byrnes, Stocker, Howard, Keeler, Heath, Schoenmaker

Possible delist: Carroll, McLennan, O'Connell

Probable delist: Webster, Cordy, Boyd, Jones

Look mate I’m not going to get into what was said. It’s not my info so not my place to go into depth of it.

I just wanted to say it’s not a miserable update and for people to think he is gone.

It’s closer to - there isn’t really an update
