So we've got our big fish. Would people prefer that we go on a recruiting/trading frenzy to push for finals ASAP or stay the course, hitting the draft and backing natural improvement?

If we bring in TDK then we trade Marshall. Unless we genuinely think King is cooked, in which case maybe we plonk Marshall at full forward for 60% of TOG. Steele could also be a casualty, though I don't think we'd miss him on field too much going forward since Nas, Garcia, Box and Pou should all be getting significant onball time next year.

Personally I'd pull the TDK offer and back in Dodson to take over from Marshall in a couple of years. This would ensure that the salary cap is manageable - re sign Windy, and have enough cap space to spare when the likes of Tauru and Pou start getting big offers from oppo clubs.
Would prefer NOT to sign TDK, but reneging on a commitment may be far more damaging in the longer run in terms of being able to attract talent from other clubs

If the Liam Ryan news is correct, it's a great testament to the club for becoming an enticing destination for indigenous talent.

Collin Young might be hated by lots of fans out West but it's a good thing to be a club he is happy for his WA clients to head too.
Helps that he is a huge saints man as well

Yep. Very exciting.

Big kudos to all of the fans that have stuck fat the last 15 years. It hasn’t been easy, and there’s still going to be some not so great times ahead, but the wheel has turned and we are now a serious football club who’s actions match their ambition.

Momentum and Belief are both just so influential in AFL.

I really BELIEVE that both will now really take off from now at St Kilda.

And not just in the Football Department, but benefits will be reaped in areas like Memberships and Sponsorships.

The AFL too will suddenly decide that St Kilda is now more worthy of Prime Time Slots.

Ole mate Daisy Thomas was creaming his pants to sink the boot in on radio on how we botched the whole thing
Fat smug squinting little rat looks a tad stupid now
He was not alone.

If this wasn’t an abject lesson to all of us to remember that most of the footy media just talk sh*t half the time and make up rubbish the other half, then we’ll never learn.

Also, for the first time in a long while we can actually trust that the club appears to know what they are doing.

As much as the size of the Tdk contract is a little galling to some of us ( including Thommo this morning) we have to trust they know what they are doing.

Also don’t you just love Ross - we’re not going to be pushed around anymore.

it will definitely help with our fixture next year.

Theres a humility to Nas that is really endearing.

My best analogy I can think of he is that boxer at a press conference and his opponent is trash talking saying all sorts of demeaning things and he stays silent.
Then the night of the fight comes out and knocks the cocky brash boxer the fudge out.
So you are saying he is Rocky?!

Williams saying he told NAS to hold, and his form showed that it was the right move. he didn’t go to the club and ask us to up our offer after the Melbourne game, we got on the front foot and came back with an increased offer off our own back.

SOS and Gubby busy low balling him god damn.
I listened to that as well. He said that we didn’t low ball him but we made an offer that was appropriate at the relevant point in time. He stated that our offeof $750k last year to extend was appropriate then, but as NAS’s form was not affected by an outstanding contract agreement, he advised him to keep going. Then we moved our subsequent offer position to him at least twice (once being after the Melbourne game) including allowing him to select how many years he wanted the offer to span.

I’m not sure if you are really criticizing our list management team or not, but I think they have played this appropriately. Can’t force somebody to agree to something until they are ready.

And as Ross said last night, nothing else was going to get done until NAS was complete (ie Windy). That is sort of true but obviously there have been some others sign up, Hall etc.

And as for not respecting the e posting players, Ross dispelled that in Agenda Setters last night, advising that the list strategy was discussed with senior players, including Wilkie, before the season commenced. Certain players also receiving invitations to renegotiate their contracts and being paid purely discretionary bonuses.

So the click bait media had (have) very little idea of what is actually happening and are just after reaction.

God I can't wait to jump on the Port board next year and propose dogshit offers for Zak Butters 24/7

Nas done, now let's get TDK as a tall utility we need, and even give Reid $1B for 20 years, as he is the midfield bull we need- hang the expense Saints!

I hope all the people who were calling Nas a Mummy's boy feel a little embarrassed. Turns out his parents love the club, and despite missing having their son around (which is totally reasonable generally, but particularly so for First Nations people, considering the way family and connection to Country are held culturally), were actually instrumental in making him feel confident in staying.

In a time where First Nations players are shying away from the AFL, it is a testament to the administration that they seem to have a real focus on wrapping their arms around our Indigenous talent, and are seemingly doing a great job at respecting First Nations Culture and integrating into the operations of the club. And this doesn't seem to be a tokenistic, sanitised thing, but a real people based acceptance and celebration of the skills and benefits that Indigenous people bring to the fabric of the club.

You look at the genuine connection between Brad Hill, Nas, Windhager, ECT, and the way they've been vocal about mixing their Cultural pride with their love for each other and St Kilda, and that to me says we're doing a good thing. Long may it continue, because I love seeing First Nations people running around in the red white and black.

That Liam Ryan news is exciting too. He’s unreal when on song. Nasiah putting it down Kings throat with Ryan buzzing around in that forward line alongside Owens, Sharman, Higgins and say Tauru is going to be great to watch

I missed the first bit of Williams this morning - if someone would like to post the link, I’m not sure how to - but he was very complimentary of how well and respectfully the club handled this. They put no pressure on Nas and let him come to his own decision.
Williams actually came across very well from what I heard.

The only weird thing about this whole saga is that Wilkie said Nas told him on Saturday and Nas said he told Ross first yesterday. But really, who cares.

Brad Hill has repeatedly stated that Ross is the best he has ever seen in that space.

To me it's the 5th to 7th year on what would still be a crippling contract that is the biggest down side. Even at $1.2 million it's a huge chunk, especially if he can't make performance meet potential. Probably costs you as much as paying Flanders and Ryan per year. It really cripples your ability to bring in missing pieces if we are close to a flag and likely shakes out some of our own players.

It feels liken attempt to create a bit of hype and momentum and in the meantime Nas has done it in-house. The clubs that will benefit most in the next few seasons are those that get creative with recruitment, not chequebook list managers.

More Max Hall, less top dollar project players.
What’s the bet there’s some re-negotiating happening as we speak. He’s not going to be left high and dry bc pretty sure Cats would be interested.

Question is, will he take a cut in order to play with the messiah? And if he doesn’t come we’ll have to fast track Dodson. Means Heath probably gets to stay.
