Nothing wrong with having high expectations. Amazing how pressure can elevate a side. Dogs after their captain walked out. Tigers after threats to spill the board and sack the coach etc.
I am full of hope for us next year. We have gone to the draft patiently the last 3 or 4 years and now is the perfect time to augment our list with players from outside the club. The precedent is Adelaide who managed 8.5 wins last year and have doubled that this year with some astute recruiting and natural improvement. They have had access to Thilthorpe for most of the year, if we can get multiple games into King then I see us taking big strides in 2026.

This would be my lineup as things stand in 2026. Obviously not all these will be fit for round 1 but if they were…

FB Aleer* Wilkie Stocker (OOC)

HB Tauru Caminiti Sinclair

C Windhager Nas Wood

HF Owens Sharman Hall

FF Higgins King Marshall

Fol TDK* Steele Garcia

I/C Clark (HB), Phillipou (Mid), Macrae (Mid), Ryan* (HF), Boxshall (W)

Missing: Henry, Hill, Travaglia, Wilson, Butler, Brynes, Carroll, Hastie, Collard etc

The only weird thing about this whole saga is that Wilkie said Nas told him on Saturday and Nas said he told Ross first yesterday. But really, who cares.
Easily explained.
He sees Ross as the formal leader/father figure.
He sees Wilkie (and Steele too if I’m correct) as informal leader/close friend.
He would formally notify the Club via Ross, informally talk to Wilkie beforehand.

The two can be true at the same time.

Also.
There’s zero chance that Windy/Chito didn’t know beforehand given how tight they are.

King staying fit is massive. That alone is probably worth a few more wins.

It's amazing how sliding doors in footy can completely change the feeling of optimism surrounding your fortunes. Nas leaves to Adelaide and we are cap in hand begging for a few scraps while they are starting premiership favourites.

A day later and Adelaide have a scandal, lost their trade target and the wheels look wobbly for 2025.

St Kilda will probably now sign Windhager and a few dangling carrots all of a sudden look a lot more tasty.

Caminiti at CHB still worries me.
