I know it's a big if, but he's been my #1 boy since we got him.

But can you imagine a fully fit Max for a season leading out to Nas, Max Hall & Sincs instead of Seb Ross, Zak Jones etc

Just gonna be 50+ a year rinse and repeat

Be warned

You're about to face an onslaught of debate from the easily triggered, who have greater knowledge than you.

The only attitude allowed is overwhelming excitement that a few players are willing to walk across the red carpet we're rolling out, and join the mighty Saints.
Victimhood is a very attractive trait.

And with a year to go on his contract, you know that the Eagles will be asking for more. We cant be vocal and say that we would expect proper payment for any contracted players and then be surprised if clubs do the same back.
Not if they’ve planted the idea and asked him to look around. He’s obviously not in their future plans as they rebuild.

I don't get the interest in Ryan. He's the same age and size as Butler. They kick the same amount of goals. Ryan takes slightly more marks, Butler tackles slightly more. Would not improve us in any material way.
i dont want ryan, but aside from sympathy for butlers injury i cant be positive about him at all, every play is an attempt at a highlight reel moment, drops easy marks to attempt miracle goals, long over him,as its to late to reprogram him to just play properly

can think of several reasons to not want ryan, but butler is not one of them

The Collingwood situation is a pretty specific/extreme example. Grundy was also 30 I think. TDK is 26.
Anyway, go back to calling him Vibes.
That was a zinger.
Incorrect- Grundy was 28. The same age TDK will be in 2 years.

Make no mistake, if TDK doesn't become the icon we're hoping for, and he wants out in 2 years, we'll be lucky to get pick 35- and we'll be paying $500k a year just to offload him

Some "draft capital".

Yes it's extreme but it happened with Grundy and Treloar, and logically it'll start happening more as player movement increases and the arms race heats up further.

As for "Vibes".

At least 3 months ago TDK was showing form. What's he done since? Nothing. People have made excuses for him.

"He got moved to the forward line".

"He's mentally checked out"

etc

The fact remains, he hasn't demonstrated elite play for any sustained, consistent period of time.

Unlike Nas, Wilkie, Sinclair, Marshall, Steele (not recently). King back in 2022 before his injuries. All those guys have had season/s of consistent, elite play at various times in their careers.

TDK still hasn't.

So what else is the hype based on?

As I said....vibes.

Or being more generous- potential and hope.

TDK is not better than Marshall
Aleer is not better than Caminiti
Ryan is not better than Butler

1. TDK is 4 years younger than marshall.
He WILL be better than marshall in 2-4 years time when we are trying to win a flag.

2. We were playing lumps like moose and keeler this year cos we have no tall fwds.
Aleer in= caminiti is an instant upgrade on moose or keeler etc fwd.

3. Butler is cooked.

I was just going off what I heard in the media.

12 months ago I would've said it was laughable we offer Tom De Koning $1.7 million a year for 8 years.

Yet here we are, and most posters are supportive of the idea.
Surely by now you should know that’s a big mistake?

Max King is key. We need him playing to his full potential.

Don't want to put a downer on it, but he's the cherry on top.

We can improve without him, I'd love him to come good but I'd don't want have to rely on him.

Get Liam Ryan in there with TDK clunking some or bringing it to ground ... we look a genuine threat.

There might also be a couple of savvy trades to come too.

I get where you are coming from, but would love to see a big power forward up there kicking 3-5 per game.

Yawn.

Next.

You don't even know what position half our players play in :tearsofjoy:

Given the signing and the big deal about today’s open training I’m surprised I’ve heard nothing about it.

Did anyone get along?

Anyway there’s this

i dont want ryan, but aside from sympathy for butlers injury i cant be positive about him at all, every play is an attempt at a highlight reel moment, drops easy marks to attempt miracle goals, long over him,as its to late to reprogram him to just play properly

Yep

The Aleer contract has been over reported. Tim Watson reported he was correct on it at the same time he was told the Harley Ried stuff was wrong and it’s more like $600k with performance clause that could take it to $700k. Outside of you, no one believes Aleer is on the hook for $900k. It’s honestly laughable to believe it.

Our smalls aren't good enough. You can list as many names as you like. Higgins and Hall are the only ones worth playing in the 1’s this year and Max has been spending a lot more time out of the forward line.

Ryan walks into our forward line behind only Higgins as a small forward.
This makes more sense (the lower figure) - but who is reporting this? They are effectively all wrong all of the time. Ralph is still rolling with $3m over 4. He is not Tom Morris levels of 100% incorrect and not in the ballpark.

What is the supposed real contract for TDK?

Agree.

Back line is solid, anchored by the indefatigable Wilkie.

Midfield has great potential. I've become optimistic.

Forward line- Higgins has improved every year.

We need King back and firing. Or Keeler taking a big step forwards. This year's combination of Sharman, Owens, Wood isn't enough.

Caminiti, jury still out for me but I think I prefer him in the back line.

There were a number of games this year where we lost in close ish games but struggled to score. Prime King could've made the difference.

I'm thinking about the Gold Coast, Carlton losses.

Or the recent grinding wins against lowly teams. Like the Richmond game. If King's there grabbing pack marks and kicking 3 or 4, suddenly they're comfortable victories.

I basically stayed away from the s / show in here for Nas. And wouldn’t have been negative in any way. I was desperate. But I keep hearing about all the embarrassing negativity and then that being said about a couple of more cautious comments today.

I don’t think I’ve seen anything negative, only some concern on aggregate about total figures / who we are bringing in / and their age or quality. That’s fair enough. We’ve traded in a lot of underwhelming in the past decade. People just get so offended if anything is remotely not repeating the party line.

Personal hope is that we are still able to bring in 2 or 3 through the draft, particularly given Dal’s Pimple has a better shot than most at snagging one with a mid-later pick.

But I’m looking forward to taking my kids to Round 1 and checking out the new recruits and the enhanced kids that already here.

The father son thread on the Blues' board is all about how Bassatt has a punchable face and St Kilda should be abolished 🤣
They never learn, always the easy way out for them, first Brown baggers, then the Kreuzer cup, then Judd, never willing to work hard. Have been the St. Kilda of the 21st century and they show no evidence of change.

Victimhood is a very attractive trait.
I was just blowing off a bit of steam with that comment

I couldn't really care less about copping abuse or criticism for my footy viewpoints.

Honestly when I jump on here sometimes feel I'm living in an alternate reality.

Just can't believe there's not more widespread pushback about the huge TDK offer, and not more rage about all these new offers in comparison with what's happened with Windy.

I'm not being a victim, just genuinely find it bizarre.

fellas fellas, after such a great moment for our club surely we are better than bringing out receipts, I mean really what good does it achieve? I mean sure, I could bring up the fact that I (along with a few other posters) went early saying we should sign Nas on 2 mil over 2 years and then fight for a longer commitment in 2027, while at the same time the great man stav was arguing that 1.4 over 2 years was overs and he would be demanding a longer deal or let him walk, only to then turn around and celebrate the 2m over 2 years like the rest of us, I could say that, but what good would it do us now? All just to score some imaginary BF forum points, I mean fellas please, we're better than that
