Not to be negative but I'd be shocked if Windy was with us next year.

Watching him today, and he just seemed withdrawn from the group.

I saw the opposite, got along well with his teammates, was all too happy to sign autographs and take photos with kids after most had gone into the rooms. I think sometimes we see what we want to say. For example I'm still backing in my preseason calls of Boxshall being JPK and Saidy being Warner.

Hi all I Come in peace.

Firstly congrats on signing nas genuinely stoked for you all. Secondly what’s windhagers trade value IF he decided to request a trade elsewhere?

Our first and Windy for Wardlaw and a second.

It matters a lot.

It likely means he just isn’t ready for big hopes and dreams some supporters have for him.
How many touches in the vfl against quality opposition would you want him to get?
He's unsigned after 2026 and won't get a game next year barring injury or for the next 3 years
Opposition teams will go hard for his services and we won't get much.
But, could be and should be our future first ruck if we can keep him

Nah. He was ready last week. He was ready in the first quarter and ran out of gas.

He’s ahead of 95% of all rucks at the same age.

You have to be able to see forward a tad.
I think the club knows how to handle a 19 year old ruck with his 1 senior game by his name.

And that’s with physical development over summer, plenty of #1 ruck time in the 2s and spot games

It must be some type of regular thing regarding Women's Football as they had another large group of Schoolgirls at the Club a few weeks ago when I went to training
Just keep Kimmie away from the club!

There are school groups, both boys and girls, around the club all of the time during the season.

Let's not forget that a certain lad from GWS was playing mostly NEAFL when we drafted him and he is now an AA and our captain.
You do know that Steele was actually pretty impressive in his rising star years.

He was behind some stars which is similar to Aleer but better performed and 4 years younger, one of our best trades.

I’m not against trading in players even an older guy like Ryan makes sense, McRae has been very good for us. It’s more that if you’re bringing in mature players on good contracts you better be sure you have your man.

A second rounder even in this draft is a decent pick and we’ve been very good recently with our drafting.

Touches are irrelevant. I’m looking for impact. I’m looking for him to take control of games.

I was arguably the biggest and first advocate for drafting him last year. I know how good he could be.

Crying over TDK isn’t the move I’d be wanting. I’d be begging for Marshall to be moved on if your goal is to bring Dodson along at senior level.

I think we can carry both of them for a couple of years. It could extend Roma's career spending more time forward and King would love having either Roma or TDK next to him in the forward line. Imagine Sharman will be happy to take the 3rd defender too, and Owens the 4th.

I'm not too happy about the money but I don't trust the media do accurately report the actual amount over the entire contract. I imagine it's less and heavily front ended.

We're too far into the deal now to back out, but I'd probably have preferred to target a 2nd ruck like Ned Reeves from Hawthorn and back in the development of Dodson, Keeler and Moose.

We're committed now (unless a medical reveals something to scare us off).
Nobody would be happy with the wage TDK is going to get, apart from TDK.
But we needed to become a club that pulled a free agent. You can't get a second free agent if you don't get the first. The narrative change between us and North, and even Essington, with Nas re- signing and TDK joining will be club defining.
People pissed and moaned about Ben McKays wages for a week or so and then the news cycle moves on. Nobody gives a ****. And he's rubbish.

Then why hasn't he signed?
He is the best ruck we have drafted since Everett by a mile
Windy, Wilson and Dodson not signed is a worry especially since we have signed Collard and hastie
Dodson has a far higher ceiling than both.
If you were in his position why would you sign knowing that with two rucks ahead of him knowing that you have years to wait untill given the opportunity when apart from Freo every other club would want a gun potential ruck even based of his VFL form?
This is very reminiscent of the jackson/ Meek trade at freo.
However, jackson is one of the most consistent and versatile rucks in the AFL
It's 7 years big money
We don't won't to get this even half wrong

I'm saying they weren't spuds , you said they were
In my opinion they were massively overrated before they were traded & ended up exactly with distinctly potato like careers.

Just like Shiel, Williams & Martin were highly sort after early picks from the franchises that ended up being very ordinary.

McGovern? Great hands in Adelaide, couldn’t hit the side of a barn & probably living off the achievements of his brother.

And Carlton paid them megabucks.

Which was the original discussion.

I wonder if there'll be any movement in our coaching ranks.
Interesting topic. I don’t normally watch training but when I did I thought Harvey looked like he had checked out. He just didn’t seem to engage much with the players and just walked around holding a footy.

That was just a feeling on the day as I know nothing about what he is meant to be doing.

There was a story online (sorry in Europe at the moment so not 100% on timelines) that was pretty strong on Enright being the anointed successor to RTB when he's ready to move one, and flagged that people has assumed it would be Harvey. Perhaps it's related?

I reckon Dodson looks a really good prospect as well but the takeaway from one great VFL performance is unmatched since Freeman.
He's a promising kid. That's all for now.

I would have thought by this stage everyone knows Rob Harvey will never be head coach

No idea why he hasn’t signed. But that doesn’t make what you have written the truth for why he hasn’t either.

Why do people think we won't get injuries next year? Why do we think TDK and or Marshall
Marshall looked to often being played when not fully fit this year. A few "managed" weeks might good for him.

won't miss matches?

And especially rucks.

What's to say King is not an injury bust and we need Marshall and TDK to play forward?

Maybe "managed" on occasion too.

Any scenario can happen and as can be seen over the past two years, soldiers go down at an alarming rate during preseason.

Seriously, if SOS lets Windy leave, he can follow him out the door. Give him the years he wants, find a compromise with the cash. Marcus is the glue in so much of our good work, has a great attitude and will probably end up in the leadership group if not the captain.

Saints fans need to show him the love too! This cheering for Nas on the 7th minute of the game, lets hear cheer for Windhager on minute 2 and show him he's loved at St Kilda.
Didn't we hear this a week back about NAZ? So everytime we have a list change sAcK tHe lIsT mAnAgEr
Windy is a favourite with in my view with the best to come, but don't compare him to NAZ, its the equivalent to comparing Stephen Powell to Nick Riewoldt.

If we are going all in for our salary cap to keep NAS the first priority would be keeping windy
Id much prefer windy over aleer

With Windy it may also be the term of 5 years.

Hey Mods, surely a thread to JWEB is in order. 14 years of tough and loyal service to the club during some bleak and frankly confusing times is deserving of a mention I would've thought?
We don’t get Preview or autopsy threads these days, don’t hold your breath on a thankya Jimmy thread 😂😔

VFL form is not an indication of AFL readiness. Have seen so many dominate at VFL and struggle at AFL.
From the moment I saw Dodson at preseason you could tell he was a footballer, with tremendous skill, poise, and footy IQ. Quite simply an absolute steal at 52.
It's his first of a two year contract as a draftee, normally they extend in their second.
I would suggest you don't worry too much in 2025. Come bye time 2026 and he hadn't extended, maybe get concerned then. This panicked is a tad premature in my view.

Which I think means is not ready YET.
