Thanks for compiling all my astute observations for everyone to see.

No doubt, this puts his contract questions to rest
You're welcome. Anytime you need me to compile your baseless statement of facts while you bleat about other posters making baseless statement of facts just holla.

Thanks to you I now have the Saints website puff pieces for all my critical contract detail needs.

Still a little bemused by the Ryan interest. The club must think we are closer to a flag than I me?

You would think he would be a target for a contending side.
Need to take some pressure off Jack Higgins with another small forward and I think flying Ryan helps that situation also I think Higgo’s defensive attributes have improved in the past season which in turn allows for another goal kicking small forward who puts scoreboard pressure on!

Looks to me like Lyon is in a finals mindset and not really interested in years of development- he's not a developmental kind of coach, and I don't think he wants to hang around outside of finals much longer.

I’m saying the reported offers have us at 500k and north somewhere between 700-800k.

What I posted the other week before all this was that the windy group wanted north of 800k and there was a big gap in negotiations.
hmm... a difficult one.. this is the byproduct of splashing money around.. if Nas is reported getting $2M a year, and we are offering Windy a quarter of that at $500k, he'll want more for sure. Looking more like he'll go to North in that case unless we budge.

Given that we are courting another young gun mid (assume it's at the Sam Flanders' level), then letting Windy who's a level below Flanders go does makes sense.

Windy has limitations but so does Owens and he got 4. Windy has heart, cant teach that

he seems to be the only mature body we have thats not 29+ that can run through the midfield

plus he drives a standard and looks like the obvious next captain, whos not steele or wilkie.

seems like ****ing madness to watch him walk out the door.

Garcia and Boxshall are no where near ready. Pou cant do full time mid minutes. Nas is amazing but he's not a blue collar at the coal face type midfielder.

who's that leave?

hunter clark? lol.

if Windy is leaving i think we better hope SOS has a back up plan here where he is bringing in a legit inside mid with high training standards and it can't be in season 2027 this guy is there, because thats the last year on the NAS deal.

it has to happen now.

I guess it depend on price with windy. He is a good role player but doesn’t impact games like Owen can even with 35+ touches.

He had 23 CBA’s on the weekend and didn’t have a centre clearance. I have no doubt we want him to stay but aren’t in a position to overpay a role player anymore.

Overpaying role players has been our method for a decade and we are still in the fringe of bottom 6. Time to do things differently. Hopefully he stays.

That's all great.

But if someone states there's a games trigger in Max's contract... STATES it, without any proof, it's ok to question that. In doing so it's ridiculous to label that person as someone who is pretending the club has no common sense and hates sos etc.

Again, there may well be a games clause, but until that's proven to be true I'm not going to just blindly believe it.
It was actually the other way round... stated categorically that Max's deal was guaranteed with no protection for the club.

Those who had heard otherwise responded.

Wendy’s best attributes easily outweigh his deficiencies

Listening to sen the other night in the car and they re-rated that 2021 draft. Diacos, Darcy, NAS@3 Windy @7

Must keep

he's shutting down the oppo's best mid whilst getting the ball himself. against richmond he was crucial off half back and delivered alot of our attacking plays from the back half.

he's 100% impacting games its just not in the sense where he's kicking goals or pulling off a remarkable play

Don't think Owens got 800K a season for 4 seasons though

he's obviously not going to get that. North's offer isn't even 800k by all reports. i think he will sign for us for 3-4 years on lesser money. probably around 650-700k

I've seen you state that Max's contract has a games clause multiple times. Do you know this as a fact or are you just assuming it to be so?

The main concern here is that Windy is not a true centre midfielder. When in close, his skills/composure are NOT up to scratch, still lots of fumbles and hack kicks. That's why he is doing well tagging, especially off half back and the wing. At this stage of his career, he still need space (on the flanks) to be most effective.

That's why if Windy is really set on getting paid $800k a year contract, and we have a replacement ready to go. Then it will be a win/win.

By the way, I don't agree with Nas getting $2M or TDK on $1.7M (front loaded surely) either. But that's now the times we live in. Everything is super inflated.

I don’t think anyone is wanting to trade Windhager.

But it’s a fair argument to say he isn’t worth 700k plus TODAY.

I like the 2 year deal and if he keeps going we pay him more when we rejig our cap.
