2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

Needs more strings to his bow if he is going to make it.

Doesn’t play like a traditional key forward either.

If I was him. I’d be living in the gym and working on my ruck craft. Because he should in theory, cause chaos as a ruck
He needs some desperation and intent.

Can’t be that easily pushed aside and he can’t go missing as often as he does. He’s in some ways like a giant collard both look great at times but haven’t put it all together yet.

Both need a massive offseason in the gym. I’d also have them putting the gloves on and sparring as part of their off season programs.

A fully fit best 22 is a bit of a headscratcher with everyone coming in.

Would have to think we cut at least four more players, assuming no-one is traded out.

Heath and Schoenmaker seem obvious, does Byrnes go too ala Bonner? Jack Carroll would have to be in the gun too.

Like the keep Shoey for Tassie play idea. He can’t be on too much.

$4 million over 5 years for an almost 28-year old who's played 29 games in 3 years. Other clubs offered $2.6mil over 4 years.

I'm not filled with enthusiasm.

The strategy is clear - throw absolutely everything at a flag.

If we keep Marshall and add Ryan too, we're a good chance of finals in 2026. Maybe even winning a final like 2020. We've added quality and depth.

But I'm not convinced these moves are in our long-term interests. TDK uses loads of cap space over 8 years (whether the blindly optimistic fanatics on this board admit it or not), while Ryan and JSOS turn 30 in 2026 and 2027 respectively.

We have all had shitfights over players, coaches and administrators over the years (Forever team Longer btw)

But can we all agree we are making moves, and at least not sitting with our dick in our hands wondering when the next lady will come, we be hitting the clubs and going for it.

Going to back our medical team and list management re Jsos. My personal opinion is gee not ****ing sure about that but back the lad in and hope for the best.

At least you can say we’re not going to die wondering. Love that wee having a crack.
Work out a best 23 right now and it’s like 35 deep of potential players and ALOT of tall timber available next season.

The only player on our list, that we can’t replace.

Max King.

I reckon this is a little overstated.

He has a laconic look, so did Nicky Dal.

He also had to play as a number 1 forward at times this year as a 20 year old playing their first 10 games or whatever.

Play him as a third/fourth tall/back up ruck and hes playing against guys who dont have 10 pre seasons and talent on him i think its a very different look.
