2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Let's (AFL) just have 1 year contracts for all players
I think this is just sour grapes from WB,but why are players starting to whinge about what other players salaries are.
Aren't they the ones that signed off on their current
I suspect that Wilkie thinks he is being underpaid, knows his earning potential is at its highest right now, and wants to cash in. Clubs don't make these offers in a vacuum.
Dont players sign a contract if there happy with whats offered to them.

If the Bulldogs can afford to pony up $4.5 for Cal over 4 years, seems obvious they could have upped their offer for Silvagni. They either didn't (negligent by them if so) or Silvagni's management didn't even bother asking.

If I were Silvagni looking at the player lists I would be thinking Bulldogs >> Saints... so what is it that persuaded him to come to us? Obv. it could simply be $$... but my guess is that it is a question of RTB >>> Bevo.

It is flabbergasting to me how bad a coach Beveridge must be that with the list at his disposal the Bulldogs have not made the finals 2 out of the last 3 years. And they have never finished top 4 under him.
Pull back
Get what you mean
But he does have 1 premiership to boast
Same as us actually.

Look, I don't think he'll transfer into midfield and his set shot goalkicking is a problem, but there is no way Owens finds himself at Sandy other than in some sort of injury recovery. He's in the discussion for the most competitive guy in the league, has started to consistently win free kicks and has Norm Smith written all over him. Insanity.
Fine, but he us going to need to sharpen his sets shots up. In fact a few of our forwards do, the pressure got to them and cost us wins this year and I would hate for us to lose another GF because of poor kicks on goal like in 09.

That's his job, he owes it to himself and the club to become more reliable. Ditto Max, Snags and a few others. Its about technique and mental pressure.

Zach Merret rumblings wow to the wee!

Play hard ball on Marshall to Geelong.

We're killing it in my opinion and no way Wilkie our next Captain leaves. The Bullflogs are just bitter they missed Finals then Silvagni. But they can suck up the dry food not even the wet stuff and we'll up Cal's deal, make him Cap and he ain't going anywhere, especially not to that inbreed shitehole.

Fantasy land
The talk about guys being unhappy was 100% true.

I’m not talking about the crap from SA, my source was excellent and specifically all have entertained offers since then.

It doesn’t mean all or any are leaving, it means that for various reasons what we’re doing rattled the cage. So what every club has situations like this from time to time.

We’ll see how the club sorts it out but with the exception of Windhager the others are all contracted so we hold all the cards.

They are so salty over Silvagni, we should give them a smack for approaching a contracted player.

It's funny, because Owens (rightly) and Max and Higgins always catch flack for their set shot goal kicking when compared top previous years, it was Sharman who regressed. The only game we had more scoring shots and lost this season Sharman kicked 3.3.

We've reliably been one of the most accurate teams for a while now.

Very interested to see how Liam Ryan will go, the talk from WA for years has been he barely trains and is super lazy.

Would love to see if there’s a shift in attitude once he arrives.
Given how pumped supporters have been since the resigning of NAS followed by JSOS yesterday, the club has a deep commitment to succeed next year and this feeling will be present in the playing group. Well you'd think. I'd imagine there is a very different feeling at the Eagles. Standards will be higher at the Saints this pre-season as they make a push, Ryan will need to commit to the full journey including training.

I wouldn't mind seeing Marshall and Steele leave whatsoever. No idea about Steele but we hold the cards with Marshall so Geelong can cough up a franchise, a farm and more quite frankly.

Wilkie won't go, I'd bet any money on it. We'll simply up his deal ala Windhager.

We're killing it.

Marshall to Geelong seems an obvious outcome given it makes zero sense for us to pick up TDK and then keep Marshall.

Spend a bit extra to get TDK then move Marshall on. End result is that we've spent extra $'s (that we had to spend) to swap our rucks but have an extra pick we didn't have before.

Wilkie to the Dogs - peak silly season has arrived very early this year.

Silvagni would have been an addition. In Wilkie's case they would free up quite a bit of cap space from the 2 guns they would need to trade for us to even consider it

Dunno why the Dogs are bothering with Wilkie when their very own Zaine Cordy is available.
