2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

You really think he is more talented?
Imma kind of curious too.
The stats are so close, but I know JSos was their relief ruckman like Mitchito was for us. Other wise, that’s stats are so similar, with Battle getting a few more. But then again, we’ve been on the defensive a lot and and Silvagni played both ends for them

I’m pretty happy with Jack. But he has only really done it down back.

Battle performed up forward on a wing for awhile and down back.
I liked your post, but did Battle really perform in those positions? I seem to remember a lot of fans moaning about him not being given a fair go at it by being settled into one position. Jack has been the swingman, but my impression is that he’s never really got the big tick until this year

If Windy Ross and AB met today and we still don't know the decision, I'm not sure the news will be good. They'd have told us immediately if he was extending, surely. Hoping like hell that I'm wrong.

It's funny, because Owens (rightly) and Max and Higgins always catch flack for their set shot goal kicking when compared top previous years, it was Sharman who regressed. The only game we had more scoring shots and lost this season Sharman kicked 3.3.

We've reliably been one of the most accurate teams for a while now.
Something which gets disregarded in this conversation is the workrate of players before they get that set shot.

Look at Plugger. Dead eye. No chance in hell that he'd be maniacally chasing defenders to apply pressure. Look at Gehrig - kicked 100 back when the full forward didn't have to leave the goal square except to lead. Meanwhile Roo was making repeat 100m leads and got flack for spraying them more.

Sharman did far more running than he ever had in a previous season, and I think that impacted his set shot accuracy.

Owens is a genuine concern though because his technique is poor. He could be chilling with no opponent all game and he'd still be a 50/50 prospect from 35m out directly in front.

This the same Gary Lyon that last week was saying how ridiculous the $$ being offered to TDK was as he's a $500k player?

He's closer to a 500k player than a 1.7mil player... realistically he's worth 800k per year based on what he's shown so far. We're taking a massive risk with his contract. I hope like hell that it works out, but I think it's our worst decision since McCartin at pick 1.

It took quite a while for Battke to be settled in one position.

Here’s an idea. Maybe we are locked to honour Steele as Captain. Even if he doesn’t want it. He was chosen and it stinks to dump him. He does t deserve to be unceremoniously dropped? The one thing we can do is just continue the co captain thing. But even someone like Wood would be better. Except Wood might be marginal too 22 next year.
If he’s still captain next year, we’re not a serious club

I wonder if its good or bad
bassats home is a worry for me,does every player sign on at bassats home?thought sos/gubby would take care of that sort of thing

on one hand if everyone signs on at bassats home it must be a good thing,as i dont think he would be visiting there to announce he is leaving

on the other hand it seems something a player would do if he still needed convincing/sold the vision,as to why he has to accept unders

NAZ knew for a month he was staying. So I think we just have to wait.

what do cats offer for marshall if darcy fort squashes them in the ruck tonight and they lose?

reply to a blues post on facebook, wonder if it will get through

St Kilda loves taking players from us that are nearing the end of their careers.

take or given?you needed to fit bradley kernahan motley and dorotich in somehow, back in the glory days of along with the hawks playing in something like 15 of the 18 previous grand finals(hawks or blues,74 77 80 the exceptions),then adding those 4 and platten to your lists, when that all stopped you went down the cheat path & are still paying the price, the price has just increased as your boys are now being taken and others are running for the door

Bassat always provides a Seafood feast, for his visitors

I think the point is the only clubs kicking up a stink are the clubs with something to lose. I love the heartfelt discussions the Northern clubs' execs give on the topic.

You don't hear any of them complaining about the inequalities of the Marvel Stadium deal though.

They only care about things when it affects them.
Obviously. Clubs should advocate for themselves.

I personally believe if Geelong wanted to host their finals in Geelong, they should have every right too. I feel as strongly about this as any issue in footy. I think anyone who disagrees is a moron.

Don't expect to see other clubs advocating for them though.
