2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Most likely the clubs and his agent are assessing if a trade can be done. Once they have the green light he will nominate us.
I suspect the order is reversed.

The player wouldn’t go to the trouble of going through a physical with another club if there was no prospect of a trade being agreed to.

Nor would the club, who has the player under contract, consent to such a physical being done. A player’s injury status and physical capacity is part of a club’s IP.

If the physical goes well then all of the dominoes are in place. The player is in a position to nominate their club of choice.

I suspect Saints and Eagles have already agreed to the framework of a trade deal. Whatever that is.

Fair points.

Wilkiewould have had the first couple of years front loaded on his current contract as well.
Would be weak form.to take the front ended part then walk on the lesser two years.
Just remember how difficult Lyon, Allen and SoS are to deal with. That would surely have been taken into account by them.
There is zero chance he will be traded, unless something absolutely extraordinary is offered, and that wont happen.

Ross had already had breakfast at a separate speaking engagement.

I suspect it may have been a scrumptious morning tea. Scones, jam, cream, chocolate eclairs and a pot of tea freshly brewed.
Reckon Bassett would have sat in the cuck chair in the dungeon below the mansion, while SoS and Lyon had Windy on the Rack.

Last night's game showed how important a good defence/back line is. The Pies' backs were the key reason they won.

Also Adelaide played like a team who came from 15th last year and hasn't played finals in years. They shit the bed and were bombing long into the forward allowing Moore Filth to gobble up the intercepts.

Could a club refuse to allow a player to do a physical at another club?

Everyone is talking about how the if the last touch out of bounds rule comes in, it will change ruck work/the role of ruckmen. I agree, in that it'll mean they'll have to be more mobile. But what I think it'll really change is the role of backmen, particularly interceptors.
The fact that last touch will equal a free kick will mean that kicks up the line will have to be more central, to avoid an easy free. This, in turn, will make the people intercepting these kicks more relevant, as there will just be more kicks to intercept. This might be one of the reasons we seem to be targetting players who can float and mark (JSOS, Aleer, Tauru, etc)

Wouldn’t it only apply to loose kicks going OOB? A spoil is a throw in ala AFLW isn’t it?
