2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Glad to mend bridges stavro#4

It’s very desperate
Imagine finding out your Mrs was with another bloke and then offering to buy her a brand new diamond ring for her to come back 😂

Anyway. He stills ends up with you. Hurry up and get trac aswell so we can deal for Cmac

Moving on both Marshall and Steele is a risky move, could be an absolute culture killer.
Rubbish. What culture? One of a final every five years?
They are both contracted. Can stay if they wish, can go if they wish. But not for peanuts.
Nobody is pushing them out.

Out of curiosity, what culture are you referring to? Without sounding rude, their tenure over last decade, take those 2 years out from Steele, have been average to good. It’s definitely not a winning culture they’ll be killing.

Can you imagine C Mac sending an absolute dart of a kick to JUH next year? Stuff of dreams
Stuff of nightmares.

This is overrated to be honest. The club is now being driven by Nas & Co. they’ve created their own culture. The culture that Steele and Marshall drove had us in no man’s land. Mason Wood and Brad Hill are more integral to our culture
Absolutely agree, I've been banging this drum for years now. Remnants of the She'll Be Right Ratts era in my eyes.

For all their positives, they took us nowhere as cultural leaders.

Desperate

F Me this is some sad sorry shit.

I dont think I've stopped laughing since I saw it

EDIT: and how's Hirdy shoving in that Sam Mitchell 2011 story for literally NO reason except a flailing attempt to try and get his old club back a bit of dignity against Hawthorn

All these comments and I’m starting to think I’m in the minority that thinks losing Marshall would be a bad play, i don’t think the at most late teen pick would be worth it at all.
There's more of us agreeing with you. But we're being drowned out by people enamoured by a shiny draft pick in a weak draft that will end up in the early 20's.

It looks like captains of 3 other clubs are also looking to move, so the times they are a-changing - for better or worse. “Culture” and loyalty of players are a thing of the past. The only loyalty is that of members of clubs.

My feeling is that if contracted players want to move, clubs should be able to do the same thing - trade contracted players.

Contracts are not worth the paper they are written on, but it’s only fair it works both ways. And if players want “to go home”, all well and good, but that means to their home state, not their pick of club.

You dont get it. The pick isn’t the reason. Similar situation to Members last year, and I'd say if we can't find out a new home for Steele this year, he'll probably get moved out in the same in the same way the following year, and I'd imagine all list managers from the other clubs know it too.

I hope we don’t get Flanders to be honest. He’s not a damaging player, and we already have plenty of not damaging players. CMAC would be better but concerning he can’t break into a not too deep Hawthorn midfield after 3 seasons.

Finn Callaghan is the exact player our team needs, grew up bayside, perfect age and decided to stay with GWS. How could he do that? Why would he do that?
