2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

What I would like to see - if Marshall stays, which I want as well - is him to slim down just a little to improve agility and then really have a crack at being that 30% ruck, 70% forward.

What's clear to me is that he is a better forward than TDK - let's tailor him in that fashion.

I think the only thing stopping Marshall from kicking 30-40 goals would be his lack of agility. While it's not poor, improving it will really make him a dangerous weapon.
Are you fat shaming Marshall?

Ross insinuated that if Nas didn’t sign that TDK wasn’t happening.

What makes you think we won’t walk away from Aleer if we rate JSOS higher?

I genuinely can’t work out how they would all fit if we grabbed them all and a 25 year old Aleer and 27 year old JSOS are only coming to play AFL football.
I can't remember him ever saying that Nas not resigning we would've walked away from TDK. Ross said a lot of things that night he probably didn't mean, like approaching players in contract is actually illegal. I don't think that would've happened. I think these things a agreed to months out. Saints are building a list not a 23 so if they join and have to play VFL if there form isn't up to the level that's just the life of an AFL player.

He didn’t specifically say TDK.

He touched on bringing players into the club and what it would have looked like and the list strategy etc and then spoke about how many drafts we would need to replace Nas.

Why are you completely against? trading our pick 7
Coz there's some very good players in that range. This draft is criticised because of a poor top 5 and it doesn’t bat very deep, but our pick 7 is as good as a pick 7 in most years. If we can pull our trades off with futures in comprised drafts then we should do that since we are youth heavy now and most of them look to have a future as league players. It's always a gamble either way but especially since priority access looks to be getting dumped for the first round next year, but again looking at the pool that's likely available to us this year they are players you'd want to have. Bird in the hand and all..

An ex saints player wants to come back to play or coach?

Who is out there? Billings, Acres, Gresham, Cripps, Long, Battle, Membrey...

Only ones we'd consider would be Long o Battle but they're not coming back lol.
The field is 20 _ _ _ _ _

Still out of finals under Rossy after another ordinary season- needn't have wasted all the effort on getting rid of Ratts after all...but that's history. Carlton live in a world of their own (apologies to The Seekers)

Lyon hasn't proven anything on field but he's structured us to be in the race at least. The footy department under the last lot was like a backyard operation trying to race in the GP. Lyon has built a platform to work off. It might not work out but it has a lot more chance of working out than how we were set up before.

Ratts and Richo were both happy to have a job and not rock the boat demanding money for the back of house stuff and were hamstrung by it. At least when Lyon hands over he will be handing over a properly funded and structured football department. It's the absolute basics of a footy club and without it you can't compete.

On the Windy contract. If Windy signs for significantly less than the North offer, that will be two Saints resigning when rivals have offered significantly more.

Will the brain dead footy media see the corelation between offering significantly more to get a player out of their club ( TDK for example) or will they continue their idiot trope that the Saints are reckless and overpaying players to come to the Saints?
