2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

If Windy can't see we are building something special and just wants $$$, he can leave.
Is what it is I suppose.

He just isn’t getting that money here and I was hopeful that it was youthful immaturity about the need to earn big dollars today. But if that’s what is being offered elsewhere.

So be it.

First round pick thanks.

It's so $%&#ing annoying as well if he does leave because the media narrative will turn from destination club to St Kilda causes player unrest with case splash.

Just on Flanders, plenty of Suns supporters have mentioned his back is an issue this year - hence the lack of CBAs and midfield minutes.

Im not sure what to think of it personally, but its impossible to ignore the drop off in form. He's either checked out, played out of position and just out of form or his injury issues are back with a vengeance.

The fact hes not missed much footy confuses the injury rumours, but considering how wary we were of Walsh - I think we'd be foolish not to be at least a little concerned over offering a long term big money deal.

Media can say what they want.

Flash the cash , you’re bound to get burnt eventually.

It’s just odd to go there, with no coach right now. Petracca could be off + others.

Not sold on Flanders. Pass
If we trade with Carlton and swap 7 for 9 (TDK comp pick) + 20 (JSOS comp pick) then I’d trade pick 20 for him.

But not a top 10 pick.

Gold Coast have got all these amazing kids playing in the VFL with at least two of the top four picks this year to add to that list.

Flanders will be phased out of Gold Coast soon.

Play hard ball. If Gold Coast won’t deal then so be it. Move on.

Does anyone else think this is just the latest move by Windys agent to settle on a high price?
The words "Saints will have to move heaven and earth" are doing extremely heavy lifting and I guarantee you they are carefully chosen words.

The subtext just seems to be "meet our price"
Finey's just another mouthpiece

The point is Flanders, at 24 years old, would wanna be pretty good to outweigh the probability of getting a player like that for potentially 14-15 years.

(Again depending on what number it's actually supposed to be, and factoring in judgement about the weakness of this particular draft).
Okay, but by the same token and probabilities would he not also outweigh the shittest pick 7s of all time too? It’s a bit cherry picked.

We cant get upset if Windy leaves for money.

Thats how we’re getting TDK and JSOS.

Can’t have it all on our terms as much as we would like too.
Beat me to it.

This isn’t one to get emotional about, players will come and go. Would prefer to keep him but if he chooses to leave for a better offer I wouldn’t blame him.

Nas was the priority, Wilkie is the next crucial piece, Windy would be a bonus.

if Windy decides to leave his mates and a team on the rise to go to a club with no coach and in a shambolic state for a few extra dollars then good riddance
Battle left.
Most fans supported him right through, even when he was fringe.
There 'aint no mates, when you have kids. Or tell me, once you have 'em, do you still feel a tribe?

There are far better players that have been playing for unders that deserve a bag more than Windy at the Saints.

You don't want to lose decent players if you can but if you want to chase the bag, all the best to you but don't let the door hit you on the way out. I believe the club offered him the 2 years so he could consistently show he was worth the money then offered him 4 if it was security that was a concern.
