2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Annnnddddd…. Cmac is officially in play

the whole load up on free agents didnt go too well for them.

i hope to hell we never end up in this position. super important we play finals next year or the year after to avoid that kind of situation.

Yep, i did some reading on sports journalism yesterday and the tactics used by journos to get great metrics. And included in them a) politically correct at crucial social/politically sensitive topics (have the other ‘old journos’ act out to make them look better and re-position themselves, b) persistently run a a ‘reluctant haze’* campaign against a couple of emotionally charged and vulnerable supporter bases. (Bulldogs and St Kilda, and North) *by this, act as if they don’t want to be negative, but just say stuff like, ‘hate to say it, but….’, ‘people say I never give love to (x), but again, I have to point out….’, c) they really drive the suffering supporters crazy, generate their name and get more hits , re-tweets etc. Any publicity is good publicity. So their metrics are driven by their ongoing insults and grating…

Expect to see a lot of love for Josh Battle and Long this finals campaign. They left us now, and it smarts. I don’t wanna mention their names, but we know who they are. Poor Luke Darcy. I was never a huge fan, but at least he tried to call out one, but got egg on his face for it.
Interesting. Fits like a glove

That's really interesting and really exactly what I've always suspected. They know St Kilda fans are so emotionally sensitive and easily triggered, its a big laugh for them to even suggest something which they know will wind us up. Even if we end up getting real success all they'll have to do is whisper words like "schoolgirl" "debt", etc and enough Saints fans will get triggered and oppo fans tune in because they just love it.

Until we are truly comfortable with ourselves, this will keep happening. Let's hope the club gives us more reasons to be proud to be Saints!

Then you’re pushing out Garcia, Boxxy, Wilson and co.

We’re getting newbies on every line.

Not pushing them out, more hopeful this one will develop.
No doubt that Garcia, Boxshall and Wilson are ahead of Trav, but if their all doing well, why wouldn't they be in the team. The selection squeeze this year could be intense, and if it is then we are doing well, so bring it on!

Has anything else been said about CMac from Hawthorn?

If they're into both Merrett and Petracca, surely they'd consider it.

No offence but what does this comparison achieve?
You are crapping on about disposal efficiency and meters gained like there isn’t a dual brownlow medalist running around that has an almost identical career to Flanders best season.

If we are actually running datasets to see the value of the players we are bringing in. Flanders is a clone of Neale and looks very close to his Fremantle trend - ie ready to to pop

Probably stays at the pies, they don’t loose many and he’s had a great year.

He’s like a small full forward, Hill and Schultz can’t do what he does.
He is 33 and maybe after one last bite of the pie ( No punt intended )

Mentioned a few times a couple of weeks ago but since then I think its just us manifesting it. Realistically, I dont think he moves, Hawks supporter and Sam apparently is a big fan.

Personally, I think he'd be foolish to stay considering the 4 midfielders they are chasing. As soon as Zach says yes, I'd be clearing out my locker if I was him.

Maybe but Collingwood will either exit a few or a few will retire if they win it all.

I think it’s more likely he gets enough to stick with the pies, plus one club Collingwood man. Just can’t see I guy with his injury history happy, in form and loved by the club and supporters moving for a few extra bucks.

Mind you it’s looking like a crazy year so anything is possible.
