2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Not for nothing, but this is another reason why Nas re-signing was so important. List wise the Bombers appear in a death spiral. OTOH, we are building for a crack with the foundation set in place. Because Nas is staying.
1000% our sliding doors moment.

( A real sliding door - not the trash DB writes)

There could be some smoke with the Jamarra link.. I think Sydney seems like a better place away from those in Melbourne however, St Kilda now has a robust support for players, Danny Frawley centre, indigenous support and mentorship. Only issue is would he be far enough away from outside influence like he would be if he went to Sydney.
So we have support and Mentorship for dickheads no matter what their race or colour ?because that is what he appears to me

Because he's stuck outside their system and still very young. He looks potential A grade still. He's from Phillipou's draft so hardly surprising that he's not in the starting 22 of a finals side with lots of similar players.
He has played 10 games in 3 years and the side he can’t break into is shallowest in midfield.

By the same context. Cmac is the same age. Same draft and played 46 games.

It’s a pass for me. 0 interest.

I know we’re all getting a little antsy because we’ve had such a boring pre-season so far…..

AND

There’s risk and reward, but JUH just way too risky for me.
Sorry, I’m a no.

Our current developing midfield group:

Nas
Windy
Hall
Pou
Garcia
Boxshall
Trav

All these players will get better (except Nas maybe, not sure he can really get better at this point).

They call have very good ceilings. I don't see much point adding additional mids unless they're already A-graders or seem almost certain to become A graders.
I'm still happy to invest in players that give us a point of difference

Cmack would be great as he offers a mix of height, composure through traffic, and high-quality ball use through the middle - which is something the guys on that list don't have (except Nas but he's better utilised in other roles, as is Pou)

Unfortunately he won't leave

I still believe we have a different midfield target in our sights

Yes Mat, I’m leaning towards agreeing with you.

Merrett asked for more money last year after Saints pursued him. Bombers looked after him and here we are again 12 months later. Pretty bloody ordinary IMO.

If Essendon buckle again it will be rinse and repeat next year.

Trouble is Bombers lack talent and senior players. And if they hold firm, Merrett could easily sook it up. So in some respect Merrett has them over a barrel.

Maybe Bombers just need to rip the band-aid off.
They have a shitload of draft picks, could be what they need. Complete refresh, get rid of the deadbeats at the club. Stranger things have happened. I'm not sure Bad Scott is The Man though

juh is an end of 2011 type gamble for me(if at all),diligently stuck to the process & got close but came up short,so nothing to lose early in the next phase

im not thinking the move interstate will solve his problems, sounds like the types that have latched onto him wont let that stop them,or their contacts in his new state,he has to be totally on board himself in detatching himself from them, might mean living in a room in the bowells of rsea park & having hilly drive him to the G,geelong, the airport and marvel

not for us at this point in time,we are sticking fast to the process set out a couple years ago

Given that Nike no longer want to use the "Just Do It" slogan - (apparently causes to much anxiety for the Gen Z's????) its starting to look like Bassat has bought the rights so we can adopt it as our motto.

$2M for NWM - Just Do It!!!

5 yrs for JSOS - Just Do It!!!

$1.7 M for TDK - Just Do It!!!

JUH to Saints - Just Do it!!!

If JUH was given to us for free and Bulldogs paid half his salary, then yes I'd say roll the dice with him.

But giving up literally anything for the guy? **** that, he's a time-bomb.

With what we are building we’d been mad to consider it.
Just don’t. We’d be permanently waiting for the other shoe to drop.
B Smith with another issue at the Cats just the other day at training.
These types of players just suck all the positive energy out of a club.
Didn’t want De Goey either.

Hope we go for JUH, just what we need. Reckon once he is out of that terrible Bulldog culture and into the best indigenous culture in the league. He would thrive.
Just don’t let him design the indigenous jumper 😳
