2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Hey ,

Not sorry for intruding tbh. Loving what you're doing. Was a Saints fan until my cousin played for North . Fun fact you've a relation of his there currently.

Just us battlers needed someone to shove it up the establishment. And you're doing it.

In the great minds of the AFL we're ' fillers' and it pisses me off.

And for my boys we got a small fwd who played ten games in 2025 and kicked one goal.

FMD and FML.

Best of luck and I'll be watching

This story is totally unrelated to any above posts:

There was this guy once who lent his car to some mates who then went on a rampage across Melbourne, committing numerous aggravated burglaries, stealing cars and threatening innocent people. They weren't just 'the wrong crowd' they were seriously dangerous people that the guy was hanging around with.

The good news is the guy eventually got his car back. Unfortunately, it turned out prospective employers, aware of his continued associations, weren't too keen to give the guy a job.

I can’t believe people are actually legitimately discussing JUH.

Even if you gave absolutely no air to the disharmony rumours moving Roma and possibly Steele on to turn around and get JUH (even if it’s on rookie wages) would be a straight bullet to any culture we’re trying to build.

Indigenous or Caucasian?

This is what happens when you go 60 years without a premiership.

Not sure if this is accurate
Walters from Freemantle was abit of a loose Cannon in his early days
And l think Lyon coached him out of it?
I dont like what im hearing about JUH & who he's hanging out with
Can't deny the talent though
In the right environment?
It kind of helped Sam Fisher until he retired, then he completely lost it.

Ross sent him to the WAFL and he had to earn his way back.

Ross is abit of a maverick in the sense he is happy to give a chance to off the track footballers. Whereas other coaches just have little appetite in comparison.

But he hasn’t got a great track record in doing so.

It's pie in the sky, but if JUH was offered with a substantial amount of salary paid for a future 1st (in one of the upcoming, heavily compromised drafts), you'd have to think about it wouldn't you?
For about two seconds, because you have something stuck to the bottom of your shoe that you didn’t realise, before saying no.

Walters and JUHs issues don’t even share a planet let alone a postcode and I’m not sure we wanna be saying “we’ll Sam Fisher was a great example”

On top of that this isn’t some talented kid already on the list, we’re discussing actively recruiting him in.

Hard ****ing no, we passed on Tarryn Thomas, we should pass on this ****wit

I wouldn’t take him for free on base salary (which is a lot more ****ing likely than any sort of trade) so nah I wouldn’t be considering anything in a first round, ever.

Nas is a HB maybe plays full time mid but I imagine he'll stay an impact player.
Windhager looks wing/tag
Hall again is a brilliant high half forward and probably runs on ball to impact like DeGoey.
Phillipou maybe a full time mid but again potentially a part time impact starting forward. Already looking injury prone.
Garcia- should develop into a nice inside mid.
Boxshall- already shown bit but not played much on ball yet. Project player.
Trav looks like a HBF who may progress to a mid.

To me Garcia looks like he pushes Steele out and plays next to Macrae. That third mid/first receiver mid maybe Steele, Phillipou or Flanders I guess. Still a spot there and probably need rotations for the bench or second position types.
I love Garcia, hope to buggery he makes it, his speed out of congestion is something we lack, only Nas has him beat

He's only a 50/50 to make it tho :( needs to pick up the disposal number this year
They have a shitload of draft picks, could be what they need. Complete refresh, get rid of the deadbeats at the club. Stranger things have happened. I'm not sure Bad Scott is The Man though
There a mess
The whole club needs a massive mental jolt from the president down

Getting rid of a few senior guys who arent 100% could do them wonders, they've got some decent kids
it may not be the best draft to go super heavy into, but they could walk away with possibly 6 1st round picks, 4-5 of them top 10

Reckon the money we save from Roh and Steele would be enough for JUH. Get rid of those two and 800k a year for Jamara.

Well on our way to flag no.2 lads.
I would say ' prove me wrong' but that saying is a bit touchy today.
You’re taking the piss here surely?

If he’s playing anywhere next year (and that’s a massive ****ing if) hell be on $80k not $800k

Can someone tell me why we signed Nas to 2m when we could've got JUH for less than half the price?!
