Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I think that’s overs I would only really want him for a token pick type trade, i would much rather we throw a couple year contract at Jamie Elliot a free agent and could be a real difference maker

have heard that Pou is a bit polarising with how dedicated and footy obsessed he is. Think it says more about those at the club with the issue than Pou. We want more blokes like him, here for the on field rather than the off field.

From what I’ve seen. He’s a bit different not your typical knock about ‘boys boy’ likes to work hard , pushes himself, has high standards, maybe a bit unaware but who cares. He’s a competitor and something we don’t have.

Now that I'm 40, bald and wear glasses I am constantly uncomfortable with how I appear walking around an Onsen in Japan or going into a pool in Jakarta.

The fact i keep a roll of coins in my Speedos probably doesn't help though

This is consistently the worst week on this website every year.

There's always some outrageous trade scenario that ends up with posters from other boards chiming in with absolute bottom of the barrel dross, only to be told on repeat for the next three pages why their contribution is so bad that it's genuinely offensive.

Don't know if anything will ever top the "Saints will trade their Gresham compo for Dylan Shiel" Injector brain surgeons, but "we want your contracted future captain but aren't willing to actually initiate or engage with this trade" is not far away.

There should be a separate thread that the “what about this…” trade scenarios and ensuing arguments happen. It would be much more enjoyable that way.

obviously the 17 other clubs won't be happy but TBH we are among the least affected at this point - we don't even have a 2nd round pick atm and won't be getting an end of 1st round compo (like Essendon, Carlton etc) that will most likely be pushed back another spot now.
If anything, it will hopefully make WCE care a bit less now about what they get for Ryan in a trade...

undeserving compo aside, the worst part for mine is that they will probably use the pick to trade for Starcevich, even though he is a free agent, to avoid diluting their Allen compensation

as a result Bris will get an end of first round for pick for Starcevich, instead of zero compensation because they are bringing in 2 free agents of their own. and that should give them enough points to match the Annable bid. completely broken.

I love Nas and there is no doubt his signing was huge for us but my concern is that there is too much hailing of him, especially by the club. He is singled out in speeches, constantly asked about in interviews and all over the club's socials. Specifically, my concerns are:
1. our other players will feel like they aren't getting any love;
2. it's a LOT of pressure on him and he will get tagged even more next year - he has shown that he can handle pressure well but he may decide after a couple years of it that it is too much for him; and
3. if he does leave in 2 years, we are setting ourselves up for bigger disappointment.

Agreed. I get nervous whenever we make one or two players the club mascot if you like. Messiah complex. We did this with Billings, then Gresh. What we need is for the other promising players to take the next step next season and at least spread the hype.

Which reminds me of something Nas said in his speech: the Hype House!

I agree. All the noise from the Dogs camp makes it clear it’s unrealistic and unlikely. They’re surprised it’s still lingering. Saints hold all the cards, and I highly doubt we will give up one of our brightest young midfield talents.
