2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

Wow well that serves the Dogs right - karma is a bitch! I think the kid will be the next Bontimpelli he is that good, he will be a star that was over looked by plenty as he was only played as a wingman in his draft year. Beveridge is an absolute clown and with the list he has should have been top 4 for the past 2 years.

The kid is from Horsham so travel wont be an issue for him and if he can get a pay day like that so early in his career he would have to look at it. I would have been happy for our club to throw the Flanders deal at him, I actually think his upside his much higher than Flanders.
I suspect that Stavro was spoofing

I see a few on the pug board are starting to call out how desperate there club is and the same band of morons are trying to put them in their place because the Pugs are GrEaT 😂
But Gabelich was on air earlier saying how bold their Wilkie strategy was and how surprised they were that it got to second base 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Don't tell me some are seeing the light ( andnotthe light that apparently shines out of their coaches arse)

I'm looking forward to him more than anyone else. Huge aerial threat and off the deck. Whats not to love? He will be reinvigorated coming to Saints. Him and Higgins will have a ball.
If he was Aaron Davey I'd love it. We actually improved scoring wise last year with all the lack of success. The only hole I see in the forward set up (a missing piece rather than an upgrade) is the pressure forward one that Dan Butler's injuries have left. Ryan doesn't address that.

Slow realisation over there that there mythical key back looks like being Sam Frost 😂

Don't know why they don't back Busslinger and O'Donnell, both could do a job.
They will probably go back to that anti vaccs guy.

Bailey Smith is just a first class f...wit and boy is he dumb! If he wasnt good at playing footy you wonder what idiots like this would be doing?
One of my favourite TV commentary calls was Dermie suggesting that if Taylor Walker wasn't an AFL player, he'd probably be manning the Zipper at a carnival somewhere.

Pony up Cats!!

Their MO is to get the player to state that is the only club they are prepared to play at and then pressure the original club to be released. Marshall doesnt look like he is going to do that, so they will have to pay well above the going rate if they want to trigger the trade.

That is better tbh, but still ridiculous. If a kid spends his life in Australia, grows up playing the game, he can be NGA cos his mum is Italian? What a joke
No, European countries have been removed from the eligibility list.

Replaced with South America and places like Fiji apparently.

Aaron Davey is 42, think Geelong would be after him before us 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I remain unconvinced on Ryan. He either plays in a role he is not ideal for (pressure forward), plays so we play without a designated pressure forward, or takes valuable minutes away from already established players, like our Trademark winner or the guy who just finished 4th in the B&F in his first season of senior footy.

He's absolutely a "Good player in a good team" type.

I think it's threefold:

One: In form he can play as a pseudo FF option ala Jamie Elliott.

Means we have options other than King & Sharman. Owens & Hall can play more on ball. Higgins gets less attention.

Two: He's box office. Even if we aren't winning games, he's a draw card. People on the fence might be drawn to watching him fly for marks and kick some crazy goals.

Three: He continues to build our indigenous connections off field.

It wasn't that long ago we were close to the worst team in the comp for indigenous recruiting and development.

Then we brought in Hill & Ryder and totally changed that culture.

Its not a small thing that we are hearing whispers about guys like Bobby Hill & JUH being linked to the club.

As unlikely as it is that they come across, only a decade ago the idea of our club being able to even consider trying to work with guys like this would have been laughed at.
