2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Are those ITK’s still confident on Flanders?

Sounds a bit like it could be going the other way.

Not the end of the world if he chooses another club...i want us to keep our first pick
I’ve prepared two different gifs to cater for either scenario 👍🏻

He’s actually a ripping fella. He’s close mates with one of my mates and he’s good company even though you don’t understand a word he’s saying.
I heard a story from a trusted source that he's one of the main reasons the 96 premiership cup basically had to basically be sent to a panel beater then replated before it could go on display - apparently he threw/dropped it down stairs during the celebrations.

Anecdotally, I’d say 90% of youngsters born in Australia of Fijian parents will play rugby as a junior with minimal exposure to Australian Football perhaps only through school.

A large part of that will be because Dad is already active at a rugby club and a big portion of their social connections are with rugby families.

The social groups they move in can also be dismissive of AFL in the same way that Eastern staters and New Zealanders are, dishing out the usual tropes such as aerial ping pong, contact free, can’t tackle, etc.

I have been trying to encourage a young 13 year old to cross over to footy. He is already 6”1 and is tracking to be 6”8.

Decent engine for his age, good top end speed, big bodied, a natural power athlete who dominates all the throwing events at school athletics. Has played state level basketball as well.

But he feels embarrassed to even consider footy.

Not sure if he qualifies for NGA as he was born here in WA, his mum is an Aussie but Dad was born in Fiji. If he did I think he would fall in the Fremantle zone.

I think the only way he crosses over is if somebody identifies his talent and hand picks him to join an Academy structure, or a good school system.

But he needs someone outside the family unit of some important to reach out to him and invite him to see if he can translate his athleticism into footy.

Exactly the type that I think academies are designed for.
Fair do's. Back in my box here

I think Twomey may have mentioned it but if Marshall was to leave I also prefer the idea of getting picks in next years draft.

With the haul we’ll get this year plus a few later picks, puts us in a really strong position to attack the market again next season.
May need to wait the additional year for contracts to roll off, albeit subject to what happens with Roma, Steele etc.

But in terms of preferred drafts, yepppp - next year!

A big day at the bowlo today & decide to see what is happening early in regards about trades to our club.

I see a post from Moorabbin Ghost & think yeah, this bloke is bigger than tony…. (come to think of it has anyone seen them in the same room together?)

Back to business, I see he has posted this picture, not sure what position she prefers, but should be our number 1 priority.

Is it true that Geelong signed on Stanley, again??
That says something, I would think.

Sydney Sweeney born in September, 1997. The same as Eric Hipwood.

Is that the one from the Drive To Survive doco team? Or is it being produced by someone else?
It's just in house from our media team.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but they briefly showed some shots that will 100% feature in it the other night at the BNF, was footage from the boundary of Nas vs the Dees.

Can't wait to watch it tbh

Forward line of the following is so much fun:

HFF Ryan Marshall Owens

FF Higgins King Sharman

Yes there is no forward pressure, and obviously players like Hall, Phillipou, Steele, Wilson etc will also play large chunks in there. But it is still a really, really fun forward line
Who needs pressure when they're clunking everything

Sydney Sweeney.

Sydney = Swans, so a Swans player.

Sweeney -> Sweeney Todd -> Barber -> shaves people’s necks -> who needs their neck shaved? -> A neckbeard.

It’s Aaron Francis.

Finally can put the Carlisle Pick 5 trade behind us.
Sydney Sweeney

S S

Steele Sidebottom
or
Sam Switkowski
or
Someone with German heritage

Where is Flanders at re potentially coming to the Saints?

He is exactly what we need and if we get him would be a very successful lead in to 2026.

Loving the noise from outside St Kilda, the outrage re us getting on the front foot is great!

This time of year has been full of hope over the last couple of years actually feel with the solid core of players we already have and what we potentially have coming in has us in a good position.

Risk can be good.
Someone live stream the GC B&F and do some body language reading please
