2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th

Apart from almost missing his boot once, SDK had a very good game tonight. I reckon its SDK or Roma stays, I'm ok with that.

Not sure how Howard, Wilkie, Tauru, SDK, JSOS, Aleer and Barrat all fit but at least our VFL stand alone side would never have a goal kicked on them.

Don't give the Cats Marshall unless a brilliant deal.

Blicavs won the 2nd half ruck battle after looking like getting overrun early.

Cats fans offer of pick 25 ish would currently have them in the race for Ned Reeves rather than Marshall.

I am rapt that Marcus Windhager is staying too but I will be even more rapt that Wilkie is staying., we can't afford to lose him.

I've never seriously considered the possibility of Wilkie leaving, but if the Dogs are actually willing to cough up an absurd return in a trade (I'll take Ed Richards) AND Geelong are willing to trade SDK for Marshall...it would kinda make sense, given that we are already bringing in Silvagni and Aleer.

Theoretically, could end up with a side looking like this:

B: Aleer, SDK, Stocker
HB: Sinclair, Silvagni, Hill
C: Windhager, Richards, Wilson
HF: Hall, Sharman, Owens
F: Higgins, King, Ryan

Foll: TDK, Macrae, Nas
Int: Garcia, Tauru, Wood, Phillipou, Keeler

Got two bonafide midfield stars in Richards and Nas, plus the giant key defender in SDK. Silvagni replaces the Battle role, while Aleer and Howard probably compete for the other spot (Howard may be relegated to SDK backup though). Tauru stays in as a utility.

The good thing about this situation with Marshall and Wilkie is that there's no need for us to trade either unless the deal is weighted in our favour. By no means do I want to lose Wilkie, but if an opportunity arises where we could add a star mid in their prime while also bringing in the genuine big key defender that we need..we would have to think about it.

I love it but I can’t see in any world where the Dogs give up Richards and I doubt the Cats would give up SDK.

There’s no way we lose Wilkie no way at all.

Pretty much all of the Hawks capitulation was losing the midfield battle and after pressure dropped away they weren't able to play on their terms. They absolutely smashed Geelong early. Smith and Dangerfield really turned it around IMO.
I thought Atkins was better than Smith. He was phenomenal in the clinches.

May is so cooked it's not funny. Melbourne fan reckons he wasn't best 22 most of this year. Can't see anyone picking him up at 34 next year he's not going to have much appeal. Pretty much Collingwood would be the only type of club that might if Howe retires and they want one last crack.
May replacing Howe would be like for like in some ways. Not on field, of course - May is cooked, but in terms of off field personas.

Disclaimer - only read about May, have witnessed Howe - zero stars as a bloke. Negative stars even.
