2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

But we still have a week of the trade period to go.

Doesn’t sound as if we tried very hard.

I love the club and will always defend it, but the lad publicly nominated us ages ago. That has to mean something.

We need to ascertain all of the facts, and pre-judging is always fraught, but on the surface it doesn’t look great.
Yeah look fair

I must say I never rated us chasing Aleer so Im not upset he is not coming, but the way we withdrew our interest mid trade is really odd. The club & SOS must have known they would draw plenty of adverse press, so hopefully they come out at some stage and provide an explanation.

For me they wouldnt pull out of the Aleer deal at the last minute without a very good reason eg there is another player being courted and committed to the club.

"In the fullness of time"

I will wait and see what plays out in the next week before critiquing the club too harshly, as they have been on a heater as of late.

If you actually go cold on a player, you don’t come out and announce it, you string it along all trade period until it falls over and you just blame the other team for valuing them too high.

You announce you’re out on a guy when you still want them but their current team aren’t coming to the table in good faith

GWS: We want your 2026 2nd round pick.

Saints: No. How about our future 3rd?

GWS: No deal. Come back when you're serious.

Saints: Understood.

Saints trade F2 to West Coast for Liam Ryan and their F3

Saints: How does two future third round picks sound...?

So what would all the sooky journalists have done if we got to close of trade next Wednesday having not agreed with GWS asking price and he stays at his original club, just like many other failed trade attempts from all 18 clubs has happened in the past

I like that Purple just casually admits that he has exactly zero St Kilda sources to check with in there.

But ST KILDA CAN'T BE DOING WELL! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE!

Agreed. It's an F3 or we walk away, is the message

Agree, that's why I think we have another defender in mind. Let it be SDK and a 2nd round pick. That'll be epic. Instead of one set of King brothers (Max and Ben), we will have the other King brothers (TDK and SDK). De Koning means King in Dutch.

Just a reminder of the top 10 for B&F 5 years ago! Look how far we've come!!

Every single one of them either not with us or linked with leaving us at some point. Sorry Wilkes, but youre in that category now too.
Which proves the initial big recruits of 2019 were mostly successful. Even Zak Zones is still kicking around on the list. It’s not like any of them were complete busts.
