2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I've never seriously considered the possibility of Wilkie leaving, but if the Dogs are actually willing to cough up an absurd return in a trade (I'll take Ed Richards) AND Geelong are willing to trade SDK for Marshall...it would kinda make sense, given that we are already bringing in Silvagni and Aleer.

Theoretically, could end up with a side looking like this:

B: Aleer, SDK, Stocker
HB: Sinclair, Silvagni, Hill
C: Windhager, Richards, Wilson
HF: Hall, Sharman, Owens
F: Higgins, King, Ryan

Foll: TDK, Macrae, Nas
Int: Garcia, Tauru, Wood, Phillipou, Keeler

Got two bonafide midfield stars in Richards and Nas, plus the giant key defender in SDK. Silvagni replaces the Battle role, while Aleer and Howard probably compete for the other spot (Howard may be relegated to SDK backup though). Tauru stays in as a utility.

The good thing about this situation with Marshall and Wilkie is that there's no need for us to trade either unless the deal is weighted in our favour. By no means do I want to lose Wilkie, but if an opportunity arises where we could add a star mid in their prime while also bringing in the genuine big key defender that we need..we would have to think about it.
All makes logical sense, but I fear it is unders for Wilkie.
It would have to be ridiculous something like Richards and a top 5 pick this year. This means Dogs would lose two excellent players for Wilkie. I very much doubt they do that.
Also I can see the club just sitting Wilkie on the sidelines for two years, their are some nasty hard headed see you next tuesdays headed by Lyon at the club.

See if his manager can attract any more clients or keep the ones he has if he gets his player to breach his contract and has to sit out his football career, while he goes to court to try and get some $$$ that will be withheld.

Blicavs won the 2nd half ruck battle after looking like getting overrun early.

Cats fans offer of pick 25 ish would currently have them in the race for Ned Reeves rather than Marshall.

After watching the way Blivacs played against Meek last night, I hope that part of the money going to TDK is only allowed to spent on a running coach and about 30 pairs of running shoes.

Jumped all over him then ran away from him -was a great performance.

On a side note - Dylan Moore got 1/3 of all the free kicks awarded to the Hawks.

I'd do a straight swap of Wilkie (will be 30 at the start of next season) for Richards (just turned 26). Realistically, Richards is more valuable than Wilkie at this point. If Richards was on the table (which I doubt will happen) then we'd surely do the deal.

Want to poach our contracted star defender? Give us your gun mid. Otherwise we're more than happy to keep him. Likewise with our ruck and Geelong's gun full back.

Is that the Saints MC guy hiding between the De Konings? Could be something in this....

It definitely looks like Ollie, let's hope he shows a message to Dan on his podcast about SDK.

SDK looks like he’s about a foot taller than TDK?

Both Blake and Tom are standing behind the barrier and further back from them. Sam does still look taller though.

Mystery mid 🤪 Here's hoping more than one of these 4 will be playing for us next year.

Some pretend ITK on the dogs board reckons Wilkie is almost a lock to them and it’ll just be draft picks (apparently we have enquired about a handful of their top players only to be told they aren’t interested in coming).

😂
Good to read that a club chasing a contracted star gets to makie all the trade moves.

All I’m going to say for now, is that there is smoke re Wilkie.

And that’s all it is right now.

Whatever dog posters are claiming re a trade return are all talking shit.

Sounds like the time that port supporter said we were getting a first round pick they didn’t have and soldo. 😂 everybody is stupid but us

Love Wilkie, but nobody forced him to sign his contract. It's 100% on him and his manager.

IF he is making noise, it would be pretty generous of the club to tweak his deal.

The club is making some bold moves to try to contend. That's what they're guilty of. We might not agree with every move they make but you have to respect the fact they're having a crack rather than swim around in turd lake as we have been for over a decade.

Agreed, his manager and/or Wilkie should have the data to know if he's signing a unders contract or not.

Its he has been ill advised by his small town manager, then thats on them. Cal, change your manager and sign an extension on overs for after your current contract expires

Love Wilks but this is madness. Richard’s value on the free market would be at least 2 1st rd picks, so that means by your logic Wilkie is worth 3 1sts including a top 5 pick? Simply not happening. Richard’s is 4 years younger, I’d say their trade values are pretty similar, if not slightly in Richard’s favour.

The issue has nothing to do with us giving him an extension and a bump.

The dogs have a double your salary offer until he is 35 on the table apparently. So $1.5m a season for the next 5.

He will be made captain and bumped to
$1-1.1m ish.

The issue is that it’s $2mish on the table that he would be walking away from.

Well he is contracted, so if it is not happening he stays. Bulldogs initiated this, they pay or he stays. And you over rate Richards incredibly. Wilkie has a huge offer in front of him and you want us to bend over. OK mate, glad you aren't the LM.

The offer has to be right and Richards on his own doesn't cut it.

Well then that is up to the dogs to facilitate a trade that compensates us.

Contact a contracted player (arguably our best player) drive a wedge by him wanting out, then want to offer picks ?

We need players - nas signing on for 2 years - we need to prove ourselves.

Losing Wilkie for picks does not help that..

The offer is huge, but the consistent message is that unless we get absolute overs the deal will not get done. Don't know has accepted the offer either yet either.

There is a chance that Wilkie leaves, the offer is very very good, but the Saints wont be walked over.
