2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

They just needed to pad the list with players and since Collingwood enquired about him, he made the cut.
There are weird supporter bases on Bigfooty

But the bulldogs are the most emotionally unhinged across Bigfooty. Proper, I still sleep in mum’s bed at 45 vibes

Actually pretty ordinary IMO. You should communicate the plan to your senior leaders at least. Selling the dream is part of keeping the list together these days. The best coaches are the best communicators and bring the players along on the journey.

It's not Supercoach. It's trying to designing a game plan to maximise what you have available and the players are then the ones having to implement it. The senior guys should go back to the younger ones and keep the rest on the path.

I'm hoping that the journalist is wrong.
Communication is a two way street .

Is Marshall a mute ?

Has he been living under a rock?

Would think the very first step is to speak with TDK, ascertain his level of interest.

Then pending the outcome of that have a chat with the senior leaders .

Cannot believe that this did not occur and Marshall like everyone else would have heard the rumours so even if Sam Edmund is correct could have raised it with the club at any point in time .

Lyon has is faults but not taking then players with him in particular the leaders is it one of them . Leaders from both clubs he coached have great relationships with him.

Marshall looked at going to Geelong last year , and he wants to be main main in the ruck.

So reckon the timing of when he was told is not the issue here . And even if it was there is a sensitivity about timing of such approaches.

Zero chance he hasn’t been consulted .

Reckon the communication of a plan and the timing of specifics relating to specific players are two different things.

This is what happens when you have a bloke like Brad Johnson play 300 games for you

I tend to agree. We do need another genuine forward ruck option though.

Could we see Dougal swung forward like his Port days given we are well stock in defence?
If I recall correctly, the swinging Dougal forward by Port wasn’t a raging success. What’s his biggest goal haul in a game?

Ross wasn’t even tempted this year when the Saints were forced to use Sharman and Owens as key position players.

Dead on, anyone who thinks players in the leadership group havent been consulted on the clubs direction wouldnt have a clue how a sports club is ran at all

Hasn't it also been confirmed that Marshall was one of the players at the meeting we discussed our list management strategy with them and gave them a bonus?

Maybe Marshall didn't like what he was told about bringing in TDK but the communication was there so I'm not sure what Sam Edmund is getting at with this alternative narrative.

i would say that they would have consulted directly with any player they felt it affected (whether good or bad) so everyone was on the same page

Disagree mate. Discretion is the most important part of targeting players a long way out. Seeking approval from your senior players that far out would make it near impossible to recruit.

Let’s face it, Ro is nowhere near a good enough ruckmen to be pandering to when it comes to future planning. He has been a top 10 ruck for maybe 3 years of his career. The past two years he hasn’t been. We needed a better ruck and we got one. How Ro feels about it is irrelevant, we weren’t charging up the ladder with him as our sole ruck.

Could Fincher break the top 20? This is supposedly a weak draft, so the risk is he gets bid on higher.
After the top 15 you could throw a blanket over the rest. I don’t think he will but he could. He is ranked about 30

I think he was more effective for them as a forward. Kicked a haul against us. I bet his best day in front of the sticks is better than Marshall’s. The other thing to consider is cost. Doug’s will be on below afl average wage.

Anyone know the qualifications to be an IDK? Maybe we need to set a criteria for a genuine ITK on the forum, then the moderators could create a special post just for ITKs?

Whats this about Caminiti?

ST KILDA

Targets

Tom De Koning (Carlton)
Jack Silvagni (Carlton)
Liam Ryan (West Coast)
Leek Aleer (GWS)
Sam Flanders (Gold Coast)

Who’s Moving?

Rowan Marshall
Callum Wilkie
Anthony Caminiti
Max Heath

Draft Hand

7, 43, 58

The ‘exodus’ doesn’t look very impressive when it only contains Heath so they’ve got to make up some names to give it legs.
