2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

No, European countries have been removed from the eligibility list.

Replaced with South America and places like Fiji apparently.
Exactly the same argument. Only one reason a kid should be NGA academy listed is if he didn't pursue traditional AFL in his formative years, otherwise its just tokenism.

If your mum is from Fiji or Argentina and you were born in Australia and did Auskick and have played the game since you were 5, why should you be in the NGA?

Where is Flanders at re potentially coming to the Saints?

He is exactly what we need and if we get him would be a very successful lead in to 2026.

Loving the noise from outside St Kilda, the outrage re us getting on the front foot is great!

This time of year has been full of hope over the last couple of years actually feel with the solid core of players we already have and what we potentially have coming in has us in a good position.

Risk can be good.

Purple, Johnson and JJ all being reasonable from their usual superficial blatherings about the recruits.

Johnson seems pretty excited about the young kids the players who were injured and the recruits.

Surprisingly being pretty reasonable and complimentary.

Oh spoke too soon 'players have noses out of joint' and banging on about Wilkie, piss off Purple you flog. Apparently he put in a phone call to Marshalls people and they didn't get back to him, wonder why.

Now JJ reckons Marshall will give salary relief of 800k. FMD

I wonder who told him noses out of joint? Or maybe just his personal head canon.

Well it's true, look how many have left.

We have lost NAZ, Windy, and Wilkie so far, and probably Roh and Steele. It's an EXODUS I tells ya.

I think going after a contracted player is being proactive. He was never going to leave but was worth a shot.
Totally unserious and a joke of a football club. What is the point unless you are serious in getting the player. If he was never leaving what is the point?
And thats the point, the offer, like the club it came from is a pointless amateur outfit who sooked it up because they were cucked on JSOS by the Saints.

Now go back to your own delusional board, you wont get your mods wing to hide under here noddy.

Johnson effusive on our small forwards. JJ talking up Wilson and want Pou as a full time midfield.

They are all making reasonable arguments, including saying Flanders isn't a flashy star but an accumulater.

Even Purple is being fair. They all say they need to look at finals, again which is fair.

Dogs fans are just coping, I mean the rollercoaster of emotions when you think you’re getting JSOS, then delusional enough to think Wilkie will join only to come to the realisation that you’re destined for Steven May hahahaha

They were getting him for picks 10 and an F2 as well :D :D :D

So reports are that Petracca is meeting up north with the Suns, and has already talked with Dimma.

I forget if Flanders is contracted or not, but if Trac chooses suns, sounds like it could impact where Flanders ends up.

That's the worry. Flanders is contracted until 2027 I believe, and he has a positive working relationship with Steven King.

They've taken losing out on JSOS surprisingly hard, haven't they? Can somewhat understand the retaliatory swing at Wilkie but the ham-fisted nature and bitter hanging on is quite sad.

Us boomers have been leading the way for you following, mainly more disappointing, generation's, for all.of your miserable lives.
Usually up the garden path, but leading none the less.
My favourite is we have led you into a climate catastrophe while you lot quibble about how many genders there are 🤣🤣
I can't even get my kids to figure out what constitutes a recyclable........

If Flanders chooses us, he'll get to us. If he chooses Melbourne, he'll get to Melbourne. Ultimately the only thing that Petracca to Gold Coast does is it makes GC more likely to trade Flanders, as they need capital for Trac. That capital could be Flanders himself, if Flanders chooses Melbourne, or the pick the get from us, if he chooses us.
