2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Not sure how Ross can be blamed for this. He's played him in the midfield his entirety as coach and backed him in when his form was not great.

Unfortunately for Jack his form just continues to go south. He played a full year in the middle averaging 20 touches and other than being the sub once, continued to be backed.
Not blaming Ross for anything.

It’s well known if you speak to anyone at the club Ross has been very harsh on Jack through his time there and has never seen him as the elite mid a lot of us (including myself) do.

Can’t remember the last time I felt nonplussed at the thought of losing players like Roma & Steele.

I’ll just add. Both have handled everything as polar opposites. Bit of toys being thrown out of the pram from Roma.
What has Marshall done?

Requesting a trade when you've been demoted seems like a pretty reasonable thing to do.

He would be only be like that if he felt he was being forced out....

He is young man who plays with a passion for the club that he probably thought he would retire at. Now he has been eased out, I don't blame him really!

And...? Mutiple picks or we don't look at it.
Assuming we do trade Marshall it would have to start with this Year and 2026 or 2027's First Round picks. Its still not a great return.
Not sure what players they would let go that we would want to add on to those picks.
George Stevens maybe?
Not a big fan of Ollie Henry or Tanner Bruhn

Cant see them letting go of anyone from their GF team unfortunately

If Butler goes there's room for Steele to play that similar high pressure tackling forward role. Obviously totally different players but rotating Steele through the forwards does provide a bit more defensive balance.
Pressure forward is a particular craft, it’s not that easy to transition. Mind you, the pressure forward role is typically career ending

Eased out? He is contracted, it is his decision and if Geelong are smartarses he may well stay at the Saints.
He can ruck in the twos to Steele.
