2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

There are going to be some disappointed fans if they think a flag or prelim is on the cards next season.

There is missing the finals and then there is not even being close to the finals - if you get me.

I will be disappointed if we miss finals but if we just fall short with another 23 games into the 22 and younger core, it's alright.

I would start to get really concerned if we missed again in 2027 - that would be a problem.

We need some A graders with exposed form other than Nas.

Yep. Flexibility into next year. It might be that next year is simply a draft year, but I imagine something perfect pops up and we have flexibility. It’s reverse moneyball in a way

Steele is interesting. But let’s say he goes to Adelaide. Pick 15 probably turns into 20 and I’m thinking that’s right spot in a weak draft.

I’m not in the business of defending Essendon but I reckon criticising them for not playing a match that was cancelled, in the pre season no less, is something anyone should be to upset about. I get families came etc but that one’s not on essendon.

Agree with all this, except I have confidence Ned will be worth it. Let off the chain to be a true mid, I see him reaching his best again

I think a second rounder is about right and that’s where a pick in the 20s is.

Steele and Ro are discreet salary dumps despite the clubs narrative. That’s obvious. The unknown is if it is for the purpose to fund Nas and the incomings or if we have a little more salary cap space to grab another marquee player like Bobby Hill. I think he’s absolutely perfect for our program under RTB.
