2025 List Management Discussion - Part 4

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Free Agency Period:
Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th

I can't remember giving less of a **** about a first round pick tbh.

If it's a straight swap for our 7(12ish) then whatever.

We've hit the draft hard the past few years and come away with some good kids + we're bringing in mostly guys in their early or mid 20's this trade period. Missing out on the top end of a weak and compromised draft isn't the end of the world.

He had a delayed start to this year & they played him forward...he's a mid/ half back
As I said in my post, there are reasons for it...

But it doesn't change the fact that he is a 24 year old that has had one really good season and half a really good season in the midfield.

His best is very good but it's such a small sample size it's impossible to know whether that's how he can perform long term

Yeah completely agree, the swap of thirds or whatever always just seems like dick measuring from the list managers. May as well just get the deal done and move on to the rest of our business.
100% weve got a bit to get done, get em moving
We'll get something back if Butler goes there
Sure, not against it but think getting the deal done is the most important thing.

Pick 7 is worth more to the Gold Coast than it is to us.

They're using it on Zeke Uwland and his mates at the nepo factory, regardless.

Which annoys me slightly - we're making things a lot easier for GC, we could have pushed a bit harder.
Yes, but they've also agreed to let go of the "Nepo Babies" thing and our draft night tweet to Ben King.......

How do we bid on Fincher now should be the question
If we can get a pick/points back from GCS to help with that, then that's what could happen still.

Swap the name Flanders for Max King and same said yet he is on 1.3m

For the millionth time, there wasn't a way we could make room for the mid-season draft lol.

Literally none without the benefit of hindsight - which you know...doesn't exist at the crucial time.
A player like Max King could have been placed in long term injury list to make room
Yes I understand then the problems that brings too

Get the feeling we're doing Gold Coast a bit of a favour here to move their Petracca deal along. Not common to see a deal like this agreed so early without the usual posturing.

Would not surprise me if there's some later pick swaps with them once they've sorted the rest out.
I agree.

Or there is another deal to be done where they look after us.
