I really hope we can hang on to Tunstill. He has had a pretty rough year with injury but has shown a few good glimpses in the games he has got a chance in. He reminds me a bit of Starce in his early days, not being able to hold down a midfield spot. He is quick and is good overhead for his size and also can lay a decent tackle. May he could fill a position down back if Starce does leave.

What would Callum Ah Chee's trade value be?

OOC 2025, turns 28 years old in October so at least 3-4 good years left in him, Premiership player and can play just about anywhere on the field except key position. Would be very valuable to the Crows while they are in the flag window.

Do we bring Ben Keays back home as part of the trade? ;)🤣

Crows second rounder seems about right and it will be pushed back with bids etc.

Heartland clubs “cleverly take advantage of free agency rules”.

Northern clubs “cynically manipulate and exploit the free agency rules”.

Pretty wild that we get accused of being the dodgy one in the Allen situation - we are just making an offer to the player based on what we are willing to pay.

If anything, West Coast is the one taking advantage of the compensation formula and their ladder position to get overcompensation for a player they have mishandled and don’t deem essential to their needs.

I have it from a very reliable source, within the Adelaide football club, that Ah Chee is definitely going to be there next year.

Yeah all the noise has been putting to this being a done deal sadly. It is going to suck seeing him run around for one of our biggest challengers to the three-seven peat moving forward.

Issue is that the Eagles season is over and he had his exit meeting on the Friday. Not much you can do, it's going to come out when he says to West Coast that he plans to join Brisbane.
I think he most definitely told the Eagles he was "exercising his right to explore restricted agency or free agency what ever they call it", I think the media have added "to the Lions" which is the worst kept secret anyway. I think he may have done the right thing but which ever, he had to tell the Eagles he was leaving. No doubt they would be planning on pick 1 and 2 and would have a lot of interviews of draftees to do plus still work a deal with Reid who would be a pretty important cog to know if he was staying or going. I'll give Allen the benefit of the doubt until I see it come out of his mouth but don't care either way.

Agreed. I don’t like strengthening rival sides in any way, and still haven’t got over WC selling the farm for Kelly which allowed the Cats to nab Cameron.

That said, the Crows lack midfield talent which Ah Chee won’t cover. Bringing in Allen, along with potentially Draper and McGovern whilst losing Ah Chee (as well as maybe an O retirement, Dev traded) is probably net positive* as hard as it is to lose a guy that helped us win it last year.

*if we don’t also lose Starce.

Second rounder imo.

Adelaide’s second rounder will be in the 40s. Don’t think that gets it done. Some creativity will be needed.

It is all just about the clicks and juicing the VFL market.

A list management decision between a Qld and WA club is terrible for the VFL market. The news therefore has to be that we're rorting FA to bait and enrage VFL supporters.

I've noticed this year that Fox has really ramped up the VFL centric coverage to the point where after the Collingwood game, the post-game discusses two meaningless frees for 20 minutes and don't mention Adelaide.

I understand it commercially, but its become even more unlistenable.

Yep as hard as it is to lose Cal, if it means somehow we keep Starc, plus what you've added, then no mater how it is cut, its a win for us.

He's 28, plays a useful but niche role and the pick will just be used to match Annable anyway. Future second rounder would be fine with possibility it is better than a pick in the 40s.

Marc Murphy - funny how that name never comes up anymore when people talk Father/Son advantages. He turned down father/son to Brisbane and was drafted at pick 1 to Carlton because he wanted to play for a big club and stay in Melbourne.

It hasn't always benefited the club the father played for.

Yes, not much hysterical noise from the VFL centric media when the likes of Tom Lynch, Steven May, Patrick Dangerfield, Daniel McStay, Jeremy Cameron, Tom Barrass, Jake Lever, Adam Treloar, left "interstate" clubs to play for Victorian clubs.

Or a hue and cry about the Daicos brothers, Darcy Moore going to the Pies under father/son.... Sam Darcy, Jack Silvagni, Rhylee West.

That is my view as well those reasons + for whatever reason draft picks are massively overrated + I don't think we will be splitting hairs in circumstances where we aren't willing to offer Cal the $$$ Adel are.

Pray for Cal though when Murray Davis gets a senior coach job and Nicks' house of cards comes falling down 🙏

The other option is to have Gallop come in to the forward line and Hippy transitions to defense. He would be very good there if he commits to it with his athleticism.
I do like that idea. Especially with Jack Payne probably being unavailable for the beginning of 2026.

What draft picks can we get for him? Currently they have 18 before the compensation picks, F/S, and academy pick. Not sure they would part with that. Their next pick is 41.

Yeah I'd agree with this. That kick into the corridor last night took some balls. I liked it.

Adelaide don't have their second rounder, they traded it. They have their 1st rounder and Melbourne's 3rd rounder.
There's always picks that are thrown around, if they want Cal they'll find a way.

My main concern with losing Cal is who replaces him directly? If we lose Starc, while it'll hurt, we've got quite a few solid defenders on the list.

Linc would be the obvious answer but he just cannot be reliable now.

Luke Lloyd? Will McLachlan? Honestly wouldn't be also opposed to trying DevRob as a permanent inside forward who can bring pressure.

Has to be Will McLachlan. He's the logical next in line with runs on board in terms of goal kicking.

Similarly with Starce, it has to be Shadeau Brain. This is until Answerth returns from Achilles.

I think Cal is worth Adelaide's first rounder to be honest. It'll likely be in the 20s after bids (maybe even mid 20s), and Cal is quite comfortably a best 22 player in the reigning premiership team.

Plus Cal will be very valuable to the Crows and tipping them over the line to win a flag, certainly played a vital role in our finals run in 2024.
