Yes but doesn't hurt to get him to extend next year

I reckon he'll make us wait a bit. Another year like this year and his value goes way up. It's probably something they'll start thinking about after the 2026 season finishes.

His goal numbers mightn’t look as impressive going forward if Allen performs so it will be interesting

Probably rose coloured glasses stuff but haven’t we been pretty reasonable in our trade dealings with other clubs. We get things done with minimum fuss. The Ah Chee process seems to be an outlier for some reason.
The peak of comedy for me was when we right off the bat offered our current first and future first for Dunkley in 2022, the dogs said “absolutely not” and so Dom immediately traded out the first for points for Ashcroft. Instead they folded and got a worse deal than they were originally offered.

Update on Ah Chee from Gettable
  • Threat of preseason draft is real
  • Adelaide have tried two 3 club trades involving Lions, Crows, and Port/Sydney. LIons rejected both
  • Beveridge (It doesn't get done) & Twomey (it gets done) were split on if the trade actually happens today.
  • Expect a number of pick swaps to unlock trades at loggerjams like the Ah Chee one

The frustrating part is Adelaide has known about this trade for a long time and didn’t have appropriate capital to get it done via a single pick.

Dragging the chain on only really offering a f2 or PSD. Blergh.

The three way deal involving port ended up not happening because of Durdin/Ainsworth.

Funnily enough Gold Coast basically got pick 29 for Ainsworth. Ainsworth is a worse player, is just a year younger than Cal, and was also a cap dump. Probably tells you that a future 2 that ends up in the mid-late 30s is a derisory offer!

It is there only deal too. They're a joke

I find it bizarre that there are people saying this hold up is on Brisbane... we didn't promise Ah Chee that he'd get to Adelaide. We aren't asking for the world... Adelaide have just made half hearted efforts. If they'd offered something between pick 20 and 25, the deal would have been done. It's not the hardest task in the world to find a pick in that bracket.

I hope Ah Chee's manager is on the phone to Adelaide saying to hurry up and pull their finger out.

I think some deal will get done. Points value between pick 20-25 like i have been saying all along
Off for a bit of exercise soon back after 2pm (1pm).
Should be some action by Clubs after that time.

Regarding the PSD i doubt Eagles would want a player that wants to go to SA. This probably applies to most other clubs
Also, i don't see him getting to Adelaides pick either.
Ah-Chee preferred State is SA, and preferred club is Crows over Port.

I believe Port would defiantly take Ah-Chee at his contract price.
He may not get to the club he wants but gets to the state he wants.
In this case Lions get nothing, Crows lose their man and Ah-Chee finally gets a lucrative AFL contract at Port.

Seen an SenSA clip and one of the host said the same thing. Adelaide have plan A, future second rounder and they have the commitment to Ah Chee. They would have known that was likely not enough, and need to come up with a plan B, which they haven’t.

So we wanted a pick 15-20, Adelaide offered a future second (30-35) and then they thought a compromise was pick 29 this year?
Wonder what the whole offer was, I don’t believe Port would have trade Adelaide F2 straight for pick 29.

Fair chance in that proposal we would have been chipping something in too

Trading with us is so easy because pick value becomes literal not some nebulous proxy.

West Coast understood this and we got a mutually great deal. Crows continue to fumble and bumble despite being the engineers of the trade request.

Will surely end in a deal between the two bargaining positions, involving net pick value for us, but geez the Crows have made it clunkier than it needs to be. Cal is getting a preview of moving from an elite organisation to the next rung down.
