Linc certainly is an important part of our Club. Not suggesting delisting rather placing him on the long term injury list to use the spot then relisting in the end of season draft.Linc was an essential and integral component of our club getting to current status. It was cruel that he missed out on a premiership. Shutting his door to even a remote chance would be un-Fagan like. What position are we in desperate need to fill with a MS pick? Is there a player out there that could come in and make us better?
I'd like to think that we would choose culture over a speculative pick this year. Pass.

The issue with this is that Linc has taken specific experimental surgery designed to get him back on the park before September. Would be awful if he was fine then was inactive.Linc certainly is an important part of our Club. 2025 draft, Raphael Geesu.Read on Fox Footy's mid-season update that McCarthy is likely to get a year extension into next year.
Wouldn't be against it. Others might be a better source for this one, but don't we have a Charlie/McCarthy successor in the academy in the 2026 draft? Makes sense to keep McCarthy on for at least next year if this is the case.
Fair enough. He's probably a candidate to drop to the rookie list too, to free up a spot and possibly continue to rehab depending on how his surgery went.Read on Fox Footy's mid-season update that McCarthy is likely to get a year extension into next year.

Twomey connected us to Jamie Elliott on Gettable today....
"I'm keeping a really really close watch on if the Lions can get into that discussion."
Exactly, I'd be surprised if he ends up here. Though Cal's reasoning does make senseTranslation - Elliot's manager is looking to squeeze an extra $50k out of collingwood.
Looks like the southern clubs, especially St Kilda are coming for the northern clubs academy's. If in the future we have further restrictive or limiting access to the kids we put time, effort and money into, is it possible the academy set up is disbanded?
I'd hate to see that happen. Without these academies the kids don't get the quality of football that the Afl states get in school and local club football. Qld, NSW, kids will not get the development they need to progress. Short sighted and very petty in my opinion.

He was connected to us last time his contract was due . I guess he got his extra money then so trying the same tactic .Twomey connected us to Jamie Elliott on Gettable today....

That's why it confused me that we are the club connected to him. Twomey mentioned him as a replacement to Linc, but we already have Linc's replacement in Kai.In all seriousness, the guy is 32. Why play him when he'd only take a spot from Kai, Charlie, Ah Chee or Rayner?
We need a couple of proven tall forwards, a young tall defender, a developing ruck and a young small forward.

This is what Twomey says in the segment:I haven't listened yet but obviously we were interested in 2018 (I think?). Does not make much sense now given his age.
As a result, a watch has been placed on reigning premiers Brisbane, and if they "reignite" their pursuit of the crafty forward.
"Nearly landed at Brisbane in 2019," AFL Media's Cal Twomey said.
"We all remember the shots of him touring the Gabba. He was close to going there but ended up re-signing with the Pies.
"I'm keeping a very close eye on Brisbane reigniting its interest in Elliott. He spent time living in Queensland as a kid, before his AFL career kicked off.
"May harbour ambitions to head there post career as well, and spend some time up there.
"The Lions have Lincoln McCarthy, out of contract, coming after back-to-back ACLs, so I think they'll be looking to upgrade that position.
"Jamie Elliott is available. He's had interest in the past. No contract offer from the Pies."
Maybe Elliot has learnt how to Ruck lolThe thing is, according to Fox footy, we don't even see Kai as a Linc replacement, because we are apparently offering Linc another year.
Makes zero sense as to why we'd want Elliot again.
Can he ruck?Twomey connected us to Jamie Elliott on Gettable today....

Thats what they did last time when Elliot came up for contract in 2019. They even flew him up for a 'tour' of the facilities. thought we got used back then.Translation - Elliot's manager is looking to squeeze an extra $50k out of collingwood.
Was it experimental surgery, or standard surgery, with a view to turbo-charging his rehab? The issue with this is that Linc has taken specific experimental surgery designed to get him back on the park before September. Would be awful if he was fine then was inactive.
