The only time i’ve seen Hird was last week, in a 2 minute clip of whatever show he’s on. He’d pretty easy to avoid - just turn the telly off for whatever show he’s happens to be on.

Equally, you could avoid replying to posts about Hird if they bother you?

I mean you could just scroll on by 🤷‍♂️

It’s not about punishing him, I’m happy for him to get on with his life…my question is what is he bringing to the table?

He’s proven himself to be an arrogant, low-integrity a**hole…he’s not a leader or a thinker of the game and has no lovable/popular former player points in the bank

Compare Hird to Wayne Carey - Carey was actually good at analysing the game and being in front of the camera…he showed considerable contrition for his personal problems that mostly harmed himself…yes, his flaws definitely hurt those around him but he didn’t put young people in his care in literal, medical, physical harm’s way in a cynical and large-scale way…and Carey got rissoled in the end because being good on tv wasn’t enough to balance out the damage he did

Now look at Hird…literally, what the heck does offer in the plus column to offset the shadow of the harm he did? he’s sour, sullen, entitled and boring…is his analysis really soooo good that everyone has to suffer through listening to him rehabilitate his persona for largely egotistical reasons?

I say we all need to move on…Hird just needs that ‘moving on’ to be into football obscurity

No one cares James - please just **** off
I find Hird's footy punditry listenable and better than quite a few, while watching him his past doesn't even enter my mind... each to their own though.

I think Hipwood likes to be involved in the play more and the more he touches the footy the better we play.

I don’t actually see Gardiner as a swingman. He is not a great forward. Yes he can be thrown each end but he is a backman.
I agree that Hippy look better the more he gets involved.
And also agree that Gardiner isn’t the swingman we need. Brave and a great clubman, but a battler as a player.
Any thoughts on an upgrade to Silvagni. Proven swingman although maybe not quite A grade. UFA, still unsigned and must be frustrated with the Sh1t show around him at Carlton.

Will stay at Carlton. Despite the Silvagni club history, he's one of Carlton's best players this year, which isn't saying a lot, but they need him.

Would be better off putting time into ZZ.

Ambrogio knows best, but there are so many good young ruck prospects out there that I'd trust in Fort and Smith for next season and grab a younger guy to compete with them.

I did think of him. Not sure how he’s going at St Kilda. Was a Lions fan.
Did well yesterday in the VFL, 37 hitouts, 16 disposals, 7 tackles, 2 contested marks, 2 goals. But perhaps outshone by Alex Dodson who had 7 hitouts, 19 disposals, 4 contested marks and 4 goals.

Draper is rubbish. Surely we just work with what we have

You're not just slightly intrigued by what Fagan could do with Draper? The first task obviously involves clippers.

This midfield just turned Darcy Fort into a premiership player (love ya Darcy!). Premiership Ruckman Darcy Fort is my favourite phrase from Season 2024.

Silvagni is a strange one. Sometimes I thinks he is a top 5 defender and then the next game he is unsighted. I think he could work out at the Lions but he’s does fall into the category of player that I most hate. Mercurial. Is he that much better than Joyce etc?

At what point in the season do we start to get a little worried about Starcevich leaving?

I think he's pretty much a lock to stay health permitting.

Hard to know with the concussion issue and how that might have impacted the timeline, but usually if a player isn’t signed by or shortly after the bye it’s not ideal. I suppose it’s not good news if we have had an unchanged offer and he hasn’t signed it.

If he isn’t signed by rd 1 next year I will be worried.

More than Starcevich, I feel Ah Chee might be the one who could get swayed by a final payday.

From WA, Eagles cashed up, he can give them the maturity in the forward line and defense etc. He's 28 this October and got his premiership already. A decent 5-6 year contract from Eagles could get him across the line.

Noticed on Cals instagram the other day he's doing a fairly large home renovation which might indicate he's staying long term

Cal is a cherry-on-top player. he is a very honest footballer but his true value would not be realised ina horrid side

starce on the other hand would greatly stiffen their backline and be the general back there

Was last reported that contract discussions were on hold when he wasn't playing, which have picked up again now he's returned. Ultimately seems like a 2 year deal will be agreed to between Starc and the club.
AFL trade news: Huge Harley Reid asking price, free agency latest
Brisbane defender Brandon Starcevich is keen to remain at the Lions now that he has overcome his concussion battle as the list of restricted free agents shrinks to three.
Starcevich’s contract talks have been on hold, but now that he is back this weekend in Lions colours he will again get those talks back on track.
The WA local had requested a two-year offer from the Lions in a deal that would have given him the option of unrestricted free agency or a move to Tasmania in 2028.
But he could end up asking for a longer deal or take up that offer to 2028 after going home in coming weeks to ensure he is keen to be locked in at the Lions.

He’s keen to be locked up but when honest make sure he is keen to be locked up? That’s a very confusingly written little article.

the comments on that post was gold.

They keep talking to Joe Daniher

"who doesn't even have a phone"
"who does not use social media"
"who's pretty much unreachable in any normal means unless you track him down and stand in front of him"
