I think 2025 for Kiddy will be about getting back to AFL footy and building a base for 2026. By the sounds of it, best case, he is playing decent footy towards the very end of the season. I think that’s all entirely acceptable tbh. Not all rehabs are the same and if it takes Kiddy a little longer then that’s fine. We are lucky in that we have some decent cover and options for his role in the meantime.
Definitely a case where we probably can and should take our time to make sure that he gets back properly. There is zero reason to rush him back just to be there at the start of the year. Having him come in fresh for the back half of the year into finals will be a nice boost

I was at a Pre-season training session 2 years ago when Darcy Gardiner was coming back from an ankle issue I believe at the time.
He was doing a one on one session with one of the S&C guys and Darcy struggling with something and the coach pipes up and says, it’s ok Darcy, it’s not September yet.

It was a year (2023) that Darcy struggled to get back in the team but did crack into the team via Paynes injury to play in both the Prelim (Carlton) and Grand Final (Collingwood) and played pretty well in both games.

Moral of the story I guess, is that it is a long season and Kiddy has time to get back if all goes well from here, anything can happen and he just has to be ready if required later in the year.

Similar with Forty last year with Oscar missing out with injury and Fort was ready.

We can cover Kiddy for a while. Zorko done a great job there. I also worry it will be Answerth that makes way for Kiddy.
Cannot have too many attacking defenders I think Answerth/Starc been great duo taking on the smaller forwards.

I still hope one of our key forwards step up this year. Smith/Oscar swapping ruck/forward I think would work. I give Day the first chance in the firsts always thought he had a great pair of hands.
Not sure we need take a risk on Allen or Lewis. Pretty sure Allen will resign he just using us for some more years or $.

Lohman is the last player I expect to leave as he has already made the difficult decision to stay (when he wasn't even a regular in the ones).

What's the new act in his repertoire?

Promising news that is seems Starcevich is considered to be staying.

Free agents Marcus Bontempelli, Jeremy Cameron, Andrew Brayshaw and Brandon Starcevich are considered likely to stay, but there is a level of intrigue about Tom Lynch’s future because of Richmond’s rebuild.

Carlton’s Tom De Koning, West Coast captain Oscar Allen – identified by Brisbane as a potential Joe Daniher replacement – and North Melbourne prime mover Luke Davies-Uniacke join Draper among the most fascinating cases in this year’s free agency sweepstakes.

Oscar Allen
It is rare that a club captain departs, but Brisbane hope to make another West Australian raid as the reigning premiers look to fill Daniher’s void up forward.

A bone stress injury in Allen’s right knee limited the star Eagle to 11 games last year, after he kicked 53 goals a season earlier – almost double as many as he managed any other time in his career – and there are varying reports on where he is at physically.

Jake Waterman emerged in the absence of Allen, who will be a restricted free agent. Waterman kicked 53 goals to make the All-Australian team, while West Coast drafted tall forward Jobe Shanahan last year.

The Lions’ recruits under Chris Fagan include Daniher, Lachie Neale, Charlie Cameron, Josh Dunkley, Tom Doedee, Linc McCarthy and Callum Ah Chee.

They also have a strong track record of rehabilitating injury-riddled footballers, while Daniher’s surprise retirement freed space in Brisbane’s salary cap.

I watched the story on the news, I think they are referring to him meeting Dean Boxal, the swimming coach that goes off when his swimmers are winning with the same sort of blonde hair Lohman.

Makes sense to wait until Tas enter the comp. Could be some big offers floating around for guys in Kai's age bracket. Good to have him for a few more years yet!
Clubs will hate it (hence some of the big contracts getting thrown around) but lot of players would be stupid not to line their contracts up to the Tassie joining date. Even if you want to stay there will be enough shuffling deals that its likely a good target to maximise earnings

I suspect Tassie will look at GWS too and prioritise the kids with promise over the "get your last pay packet" guys like Bock etc.

Which Rugby star will they pay millions to ruin their culture in the first few years?
No local teams to poach from. They're going to have to steal a JackJumper or Beau Webster.

I think we can be sure Tassie will want to bring Tasmanian players 'home' recruiting will be a BIT about also trying to establish the club and a supporter base with some 'locals' that do help drag crowds with family, friends, and teams mates from junior footy along. Especially in the initial years. I think any club with some Tasmanians on their list would be looking closely. * as is Brisbane looking at Fagan whom is the absolute best fit for Tasmania.

It seems very likely that it is Ken Hinkley’s last year at Port.
He would be a good fit for Tassie too.
As is John Longmire imo.
I am hoping Fages atleast sees out his contract with us.
