Do you think Dom just sits these other clubs down and says listen I’ve done this a thousand time. Here’s what you’re going to say, here’s what I’m going to say, we’re going to go back and forth and here’s where we will end up.

post-discount it's pick 15 for us ! we win !!
The AFL would not take that discount into consideration. They should just ensure no club is getting badly screwed in the trade.
I usually don't either until all the pick swaps happen and see how we have moved from our starting points (1156) and where we end up before our first trade. likely Annable.
The 1156 should now change to 2032

I've heard he's taken a step back in that regard and put Briztoon in to negotiate.

Briztoon might negotiate from both sides of the table - asking everyone to take a break.

Briztoon hates the way Briztoon negotiates with Briztoon.

If you guys want to experience the ultimate emotional rollercoaster with a beautifully satisfying ending, I strongly, STRONGLY urge you to read the last 45 minutes of posts in the West Coast trade thread.

It’s got everything.

Only think it needed was Briztoon popping in to the thread mid meltdown to calmly explain why the academies are actually good for the game

You weren't underselling it.

That was pure rolled gold.

Chef's kiss.

Am I dumb or did we effectively trade Pick 19 and starcevich for pick 16? That doesn't seem great to me.
We traded Starcevich for the priority pick, pick 22, the AFL gave West Coast.

For some unknown reason, West Coast and Fremantle then decided to do us a solid, and upgrade 3 of our picks.

19 to 16.
46 to 44.
52 to 50.

They’re all minor upgrades, but ****s me how Dom convinces clubs to add extras.

For me, West Coast were the “loser” of this trade, in that they’ve lost some value to help them trade up for one of Gold Coast’s top 10 picks. Now they’re reliant on trades with St Kilda and Carlton to get extra value in this draft.

For us, we still have 4 third round picks we have to consolidate in to one or two picks.

3 top 15 picks and a dual Premiership defender not sure they lost at all

I reckon we did fine. It's not Starce's full value by a long way. But considering the free agency implications, it works.

I reckon WC did well enough.

I reckon Freo took quite the downgrade. I get why they're splitting rhe picks, but gee, I'd have wanted a little something extra. Then again, if they view it as fairly flat draft, they may be pretty happy with the split. Doesn't hurt us either way.

West Coast brought in a two time premiership player with a pick that was gifted to them. They've done OK. If there were secret caveats on how that pick was to be used it wouldn't surprise me.

They don't seem all that fond of their list management team over there do they!

And apparently seemingly fair is an utter failure because they always lose so can only accept a trade where they ream the opposition... real winning strategy there!

They’ve been fairly screwed over in recent pick swap trades in recent years, so there’s a fair bit of ptsd over there.
