Great news

Still waiting on Conor and Joyce?
Yep.
Linc yet to officially re-sign, might be a rookie list add? McKenna will be his own decision whether he wants to return or stay in Ireland since we've offered him a new deal. Nothing on Joyce yet, could delist and re-rookie him like last year if we need list spots for draft picks and he wants to continue next year.

Apparently we have better access to father/sons.

Someone needs to remind these buffoons that F/S works the same as the other 17 clubs.

We just lucked out that two former players had good offspring.

If the Crom wan't access to F/S then their former players need to start breeding.

Forget building a Fagan statue at the new stadium, we should build a statue of Marcus Ashcroft.

Maybe in a similar style to the statue of David.

i was actually pretty shocked listening to draper talk - as a comparison he spoke much better than allen IMO.

seems like a pretty switched on guy tbh. think he will thrive here.

Tom14 mentioned that Drapes does a podcast. Tom said he hasn’t missed an episode. Drapes might just be more comfortable in front of a mic and camera.

Is our eugenics program under the soft cap?

Hard to believe what a stir this has caused over a player who is basically a bit of a no name to most opposition supporters. All about some reasonably inconsequential draft picks.

The Adelaide guy and Cal's manager made it sound like they'd been in a war zone vowing to fight on.

Pretty funny really.

The Adelaide mob has lost its marbles ever since their dream season blew up and they choked badly on the big stage.

Essentially, teams like Adelaide place a stronger value on raw picks because we have a narrower way of bringing in young talent than a team like Brisbane. We could go tit-for-tat on whether Academy processes are fair but that's a separate argument - and it is the rules we operate under - so I'm not going to argue that here. You've benefited from the rules, as all clubs would. You've also drafted/traded very well separate from Academy/FS recently, which is a big part of your flags.

The Crows will take Cal in the PSD for nothing and move on, as I'm sure Brisbane will when they take another Academy player next month.
Maybe teams like Adelaide should place a stronger value on winning premierships instead

Would that be 3 times Lions' premiership player Marcus Ashcroft?

I wonder if he regrets hanging around Brisbane on meagre pay at the end of his career winning premierships with his mates, when he could have been cashing in down in Vic with one of the also ran teams of the times?

Kerry Under-20 player Ben Murphy looks set to become the latest Gaelic footballer to move to the AFL, with the Brisbane Lions the destination for the Austin Stacks clubman.

The Kerryman is reporting that the 18-year-old, a Kerry minor in 2023 and 2024 and part of Tomás Ó Sé's U20 team this year, is expected to join the Lions on a category b rookie contract later this month after impressing during a trial in August.

The Lions already have Irish representation, in the form of Kilkenny's Darragh Joyce, while Tyrone's Conor McKenna is out of contract but is believed to have been offered a one-year extension.

Murphy will be on club duty this weekend when Stacks take on Rathmore in the Kerry County SFC semi-final.

His departure will be a blow for Kerry, who have lost several players to Aussie Rules in recent years, including Mark O’Connor, Cillian Burke and Rob Monahan.

Speaking earlier this year, U20 manager Ó Sé outlined his frustration with the way in which AFL sides are poaching some of the best Irish talent.

You list manager is the new Dodoro. Wouldnt take a 2 and a 3 for a guy that not worth a first and I think everyone in the AFL world knows that. You piss of a player manager for what...it just sours people against wanting to go there if they cant look after players who have won them a flag.

how does f*** off sound?
