Meanwhile yesterday on the radio, Corn was saying that if it happened Port would need something else coming back their way.
Wasn't just Corn if I remember right, pretty sure Tim Watson was saying something similar, which frankly seems weird. I am a little biased, but I feel like the fairest would be NWM for Butters and a second round pick. To me, that feels like unders for us, but that feels the fair trade. Or would the fairest be NWM for Butters and no picks?

Either way, hopefully it's not something we have to entertain. I find it weird that a few people in the media are suggesting NWM plus a pick is what we need to send them.

obviously a bit nervous coming to look at our board
Was curious to see what you guys were saying about Nas. Never in a million years thought it would be what I read.

NWM is very good. He's not on Butters' level. That's not a slight on him, very very few players are. He's won our last two B&F's, he's made the last two AA sides, he's won the last two Most Courageous Player awards, he was the AFLCA player of the year in 2023. NWM is very good. He's not that good.

Agreed. Now tell your mob spruiking in the Nas thread that Bergman isn’t a pimple on Nas’ arse.

You’re right he’s not yet.

None of the top line mids are as skillful as him tho. That’s what he projects to be.

Good win saints supporters, exuse the intrusion.

I prety clearly can overlook my bias and admit that Nas is many levels above bergan, but you cant tell me that Nas is closer to butters than bergman is to Nas.

This isnt a knock on nas btw, hes a top 3 half backer in the comp and kick in the comp

Surely u guys can overlook your supporter bias also

The one thing that really pisses me off about that article is that I didn't get an invite to the cruise. Surely being a member for 137 years counts for something.
And only 1 premiership

I admit nothing :)

Different sorts of players.
Is Nick Larkey better than Max Gqwn?

Obviously Butters CV is way ahead of NAS right now. At the moment he is a much better player, no one can dispute that. They are very different players though so difficult to compare. The value of NAS is based on projection to what he will be. Had his worst game of the season last night. I suggest you watch his game vs the Giants to have a look at what he could be. He’s not just gonna be a running half back. We are starting to play him through the middle with promising results. Think a smoother but not as dynamic Rankine for his ceiling.

NAS CV will look a lot better after this year as well, I’ll tip all Australian and best and fairest winner.

If you guys don’t want to deal with us we will simply move on to the Crows for a big draft pick haul and you can get a couple of middling first round rounders from the Dogs for Butters if you want.

I’d tip both players to stay anyway.

what makes you guys think NAS eventually moves into the midifeld, he is never going to be a contested ball winner, he is one of the best kicks in the comp, why put him in the middle? we have seen with somone like dawson for instance, great kick, moves into midifled than becomes a average kick due to being under pressure way more when kicking the ball.

Because before last nights game- he'd attended 28 centre bounces and got 6 centre bounce clearances.

That win rate of over 21% is elite.
Sure maybe he cant maintain that over a whole season (yet)?

But he's in his 4th year and doing that while never even having trained or been coached as a mid.

The sky is the limit for that kid- he's always been far stronger than he looks- he hits hard and doesn't get moved off the ball easily.
He already is a contested ball winner.

All on potential though. A sample size of 6 clearances in games where Saints got flogged and 3 came in the last 15 minutes of the match when the game was absolutely dead.

Even the Rankine comparison is an odd one.

He hasn’t had 10 contested possessions in his entire career. Rankine has has 12 in his last 22 games and was barely even playing midfield last year. The comparison doesn’t make any sense when you watch the two play styles.

Until he shows he can actually do it it’s just ‘potential’. NWM is a gun but outside players who can’t win their own ball don’t get rated as top top players in the comp until they actually go out and show they can do it. Every high possession ball winner looks good out of the back line. Just ask Harry Sheezel. It’s a much tougher ask being a consistently top tier midfielder.

Everything about NWM screams Lachie Whitfield. He’s a gun too but you’re simply never going to be rated the same as the best players and midfielders in the comp only getting football on the outside and 20% of your stats being uncontested kick ins to a bloke standing on his own 30 metres away or kicking to a contest for a ball up 50 metres away.

A player that gets 5+ disposals from uncontested kick in’s per game, doesn’t defend one on one and doesn’t intercept as a half back flank / winger will just never be rated the same as a top 5 midfielder in the comp.
It’s great to have untapped potential but the guy entering his prime as a better player that has already shown it will always have far more value than the untapped potential player.

Butters has proven it in the midfield through his contested possessions, clearances, score involvements and elite disposal and kicking. He even averages more intercepts and defensive half pressure acts than NWM does in a midfield role.
He won the coaches association best player in the comp 2023, came top 3 in the Brownlow last year and this season has looked again like a top 5 player in the competition.

I’d love to get NWM as he’d be a great replacement for Dan Houston. The thought that he’d have anywhere near the value or is anywhere near the player Butters currently is is crazy. He could get there and has a heap of potential but he simply isn’t anywhere near as good at the moment.

Why are Port fans coming over to our board and telling us what NAS is and isn't capable of? Go back to your own board.
He's clearly not worthy of their club, may as well re-sign with us

Just got back from the brothel. One of the hookers I banter with there told me Nas is definitely staying. Apparently the woman that does her nails said her cousin is in commercial real estate and said Nas has just gone thirds in a St Kilda restaurant with TDK and Ross Lyon. It will be called "Nasiah the messiah and the insignificant others."
Hopefully this ends up on Facebook.
Thankyou.

Tell Desiree to unblock me, I need the goss on Nas. Also is the pie, coke and a poke deal still on..?

Why the **** do you guys want him then.
